About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience every day something exciting!
ABOUT ME
Hey! I'm Cornelia, but everyone calls me Nela. Currently, I'm in this stage of life after finishing my studies and starting my PhD in phyiscs & astronomy. For me it's kind of a big breakpoint (in private and job-related things) and that's why it is all about figuring out which kind of experiences and things I haven't done so far but really wish to do, which things mean a lot to me and what do I need to change.
The first thing to do will be a 4-weeks-trip visiting New York, Boston and New England on my own - planned now for years, fulfilling a dream!
But physics is not all of me and my life (no, I wouldn't count me as a nerd ;-). So, to say a few more words about me: I would say I'm a friendly, calm and honest person who has also quite crazy moments ;-) Sometimes I'm a little bit scatty (mostly when I'm tired *g*) and I have a slight dry sense of humor, but always willing to laugh about myself ;-) I live together with my sweet flatmate in a small 2-room-appartement in the student and Siemens city Erlangen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Since I'm a freshman here, I have no experiences yet but like to dive into the couchsurfing-world.
The idea of travelling around the world and getting to know the people and their places in a way a tourist wouldn't do is just fascinating!
To be honest, when I'm travelling, partly I'm of course a typical tourist, taking pictures of everything and everybody - but my greatest travel memories are those days spent with friends from all over the world ("insiders") at their favorite places. That's the only way to get the real feeling - and meeting new interesting people is always fun! :)
Interests
Reading. Swimming. Taking a walk through the city on a sunday afternoon. Cooking & baking. Disney movies. Hanging out with friends. Cozy evenings with DVD, board games/Wii. Cinema. Shopping. Skiing. Photography. Astronomy. Dancing (the whole night). Having a cup of wine or a cocktail at a bar. Lying in the sun in the park. Playing piano. Singing in my car. Relaxing on my couch. Theater & Poetry Slam. Coffee & chocolate. Spontaneously short-time trips to visit friends in nearby cities. ...
and of course: travelling around the world and learning amazing things about other cultures (who would have thought!?)

Teach, Learn, Share
I love baking and I bet that you are going to love the recipe for my mum's "Marmorkuchen" - typically German and very tasty :)
I'm from Frankonia/Bavaria, which is, everybody knows, famous for its beer - so if you spend some days here, I can take you to a small originally brewery ;)
I would be happy to show you around in Frankonia in general: visting Nuremberg (the famous castle or the "Christkindlesmarkt" in December), drinking a cup of coffee in a cute little café in Erlangen or I can show you the observatory (where I work) in the baroque town Bamberg.
Doing science in astronomy - yeah I can tell you everything about the sun-moon-stars, black holes and the universe :)
