About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the world, using CouchSurfing!

PHILOSOPHY

"Explore your mind by exploring the world."
"Luck is all you make it, you just reach out and take it" - Time flies, Porcupine Tree

I'm convinced that comparing my culture, beliefs, experiences with those of other people is incredibly interesting.
I know there's so much more out there and I can't wait to see, experience it all. That's why I'm on CouchSurfing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None!
Right now, I'm an Erasmus student in France and I want to see as much of it as I can. Traveling being expensive, I asked other people how they managed to travel so much and spending so little money. Their response: CouchSurfing! So I made a profile and I'm hoping on having a CouchSurfing experience really soon!

Interests

I love music, really any kind of music but I adore rock music most of all.
While I'm listening to music, I mostly read (yes, I am the typical language-student-nerd :)). Some of my favourite books: Wuthering Heights, Persuasion, On Chesil Beach and some French books: Huis clos, l'Etranger, ...
I spend a lot of time I could be spending more useful on the computer (Facebook is my number 1 addiction sadly) or going out. Nightlife in Ghent is amazing: there are so many bars, clubs, pubs,... you don't know where to go first! I met a lot of great people going out so it's definitely one of my favourite occupations :).
Also, I try to get a little exercise every once in a while: I love swimming, jogging not that much but when the wheather is good, why not!
Since I'm on Erasmus, I've been really into cooking! It's not easy because I'm not very equipped and there's no oven but I've made a couple of great recipes so far!
I'm also involved in scouting (since I was 6), so I can honestly say that I've got a lot experience traveling, taking care of myself and that I'm really sociable.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've watched so many movies that I really can't remember which one touched me most of all.. But I do have a couple of favourites that I won't forget easily:
- My Sassy Girl
- Atonement
- Shutter Island
- Inception
- Inglourious Basterds
- Closer
My favourite series are: Grey's Anatomy, Lie to me, One Tree Hill, Prison Break.
Bands I like: Tegan and Sara, Wakey!Wakey!, Bon Iver, Kings of Leon, Porcupine Tree, Interpol, Absynthe Minded, 30 Seconds to Mars,...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been on a train-trip throughout East-Europe and it was amazing. Three weeks of traveling, visiting museums, going out, sleeping in weird hostels and meeting interesting people!

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel I'm not mature enough to give you life lessons or to share my 'experiences'. Yes, I've experienced what it's like to live alone because I'm on Erasmus and I know what it entails. But it's difficult to give advice. The only thing I can 'advise' you is, if you get the chance, to DO it. Living in another country far away from home is a life-altering experience.

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom
