ABOUT ME

I guess my best friends find that I'm gentle, funny (at least they are polite enough to laugh at my humorous remarks) and that I am always there for them, if they are in trouble, to listen to them or just to have some fun! I like discovering people's interests and hence discovering new passions.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in seeing the nice things that life can give us, even the tiniest ones. It does not change how tough life can be but it makes you a little happier.
I also believe in making the most of it, to have no regrets when I get older.

I am a baby couchsurfer! this could be my first experience so I'm rather excited :)

Interests

I am a scientist (biologist) but initially everybody thought I was meant to work in litterature/books as I have always read a lot, as far as I remember. This is a constant in my life, books brings me joy, excitment, comfort when I'm in pain... I am quite curious naturally, not only to meet new friends but also discovering new music, new books, new movies.
Of course, science is a big part of my life: I work in evolutionary biology and that what makes my life exciting :)
Last thing I got into is running: can't get enough!

Music, Movies, and Books

There are far too many!!
I like classical litterature (Hugo, Zola, Dumas, Dickens, Brönte..) as well as science fiction (Hobb, King, Dan Simmons), science (Gould, Darwin), contemporary... I am quite a good public!
Movie wise: Kubrick (Spartacus and Barry Lyndon are my top movies), SF movies (Cube, early Spielberg), Drive, Xmen movies... there are too many!!
Music- I'm from a pop/rock background: Beatles, Pulp / Smiths/ Rollins Band/ Foo Fighters/ Morphine... but I enjoy also folk music (Neil Young/ Joni Mitchell..), french music (V. Sanson).. and many others

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* One of the moments I remember is the day I realise how cool evolutionary biology was. It sounds really nerdy, I know, but it is like when you suddenly understand something that makes sense in so many ways: illuminating!
* I remember really clearly also the first time I got to New York and went out of the metro station. I looked on my right, saw the Empire State Building and thought: I am in a movie!
*This year's big moment may have been when I discovered Henry Rollins: not only his hilarious performance in his Spoken Words shows but also his words in his own books. I find him extremely inspiring, especially in how he fought depression and how he use sport/working out in this purpose. This may sound a bit exagerated but I feel there is a before and after-Rollins in my life.

I can teach exciting things about biology/evolution, French, French cooking, exchanging on books/movies/music I like...

I like speaking new languages, discovering someone's passion.
