ABOUT ME

I have been active on couchsurfing for 5 years now and loved every second of it. After telling my boyfriend for 3 years how amazing every single of my couchsurfing experience has been and that joining was such a life-changing decision, I have finally convinced him to try some Couchsurfing with me. So now there is two of us: Vanessa and Martin, both 25, both studying psychology. We are doing an internship in Zanzibar right now, working with drug addicts, and will travel around Tanzania and Kenya afterwards and hope to meet some of you! :)

Self-descriptions? Not my greatest strength. I guess you'€™ll just have to meet me and find out for yourself. I can be pretty shy at first, but once you get to know me, you will soon wish I’d shut up for just two seconds every once in a while! I’m a vegetarian and an animal lover. I’m very determined- I guess you could call it stubborn- and if I really want something, I’ll usually get it. Or always get it. ;) Which can be both a good and a bad thing.
I wanted to travel ever since I was a little kid and was always jealous of my friends going on holidays with their family. So ever since I was 15 I was either saving money for travels or travelling – I just love everything about it. And I love meeting different people, and learning about different beliefs, lifestyles and opinions. I’m super interested in how human minds work and talking to me can be very much like talking to a three year old – I usually ask why about 5 times per second!

PHILOSOPHY

There's something good to learn from even the most horrible things that happen to you. It's important to try to see that to get over letdowns.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Any way I can. Have surfed and participated in the CS community in Australia quite a lot, would LOVE to host and meet up in Germany as well. Will definitely be active wherever I go!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed on three continents so far, attended countless meeting and events, found some travelmates through couchsurfing, met a whole lot of amazing people and made some great new friends. Only had a chance to host twice, as not many people seem to want to travel to the middle of nowhere in Germany, but both times were awesome as well.

Only had GREAT experiences and I'm sure there are many more to come!

I love music, but I mostly listen to American underground pop-rock, so naming bands won't help :) But if youve ever heard from Something Corporate, there's a fair chance I'll propose to you! ;)

I read a LOT in a very short time, there's way too many books i enjoy. But two of the first authors that come to my mind when thinking about amazing books would be Markus Zusak and Max Frisch.

I'm not a big movie nerd, so don't even try to start a conversation about 'çlassics' with me - I won't know them. I love watching horror movies with my girls back home though. Besides that, a few of my favorite movies would be Donnie Darko, American Beauty, Cruel Intentions and Tim Burton movies.

Most amazing thing seen was probably the Niagara Falls. Best trip of my life.
Going to Canada although I was hell scared of it back then was probably the greatest thing I've ever done. Had an absolutely amazing time there that I'll never forget!
And spending a crazy, unorganized and amazing year in Australia.
