Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

I tried to be all philosophical about life but I stunk. I'd much rather laugh, love and quote Anchorman in this life.

ABOUT ME

I'm a smiling, enthusiastic girl who is excited about meeting other CSers. Sometimes shy, it never takes me long to come out of my shell on the road. Genuinely wanting to make my travels into lots of little stories and experiences so I can look back on them when with a huge smile. I'm travelling until March 08 where I am going home to complete some postgrad work. Been traveling since March of this year and settled down in Edinburgh for 7 months. Love that city.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm travelling for a reason. I don't know what that exact reason is yet but when the moment happens that I realise I'll be absolutely spun out by it. That might not make sense to anyone else but me but right now that's working for me.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted CSers in Edinburgh and joined the great Edinburgh CSing community.

Slowly integrating myself back into the Adelaide CS Community...once I've finished my studies I will start to organise events :)

Short term volunteer at the CS Thai Collective in January 2008.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have a great story about taking a quick trip to Dublinin July which resulted in making friends with a bus driver and getting chauffered around the streets of Dublin at midnight trying to find accommodation. We went to about 30 places and ended up finding a couch at a backpackers. That's the shortest account. I'll save the longer version for another time - it's worth it, trust me! Wish I had heard of Couch Surfing BEFORE all these shenanigans took place!

Intereses

My new, beautiful 125cc scooter! Only downfall? No stereo to sing along to!

Volunteering with awesome organizations like www.andamandiscoveries.com, community based development in North Andaman, Thailand. If you are heading to Thailand for a little or a long while, please check out their website!

Music, seeing new bands and established bands. I grew up on Australian music and Triple J, love beautiful harmonies and guitar. I can't play an instrument but admire those who do. I miss belting out a tune with the radio whilst driving in my car back home! **EDIT: when I have access to a car now that I'm back home I really enjoy doing this...simple pleasures...

Comedy, having a laugh, finding out about people, cooking (although my dishes are fairly pedestrian), Fringe Festivals, slipper socks.

Música, películas y libros

I wish I had more of an attention span to digest movies but I get a bit wriggly if the film is crap. Favourites include The Life Aquatic, Anchorman, Look Both Ways, Garden State, This is England.

I have a myspace which lists my favourite bands:
www.myspace.com/rollcredit. Just quickly right now I'm loving Something for Kate (and have done for almost 10 years), Crowded House and any Finn tangents, David Bowie, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Holly Throsby, Josh Pyke and Clare Bowditch. Not a very international list but I'm always interested in new music.

I am slowly discovering books again after not "reading" much more than trashy magazines for a few years. I've just finished a really good book exploring experiences of the "Ten Pound Poms" and also an autobiography of Gene Wilder, that man is so much more than the dude from Willy Wonka!

Algo increíble que he hecho

Dancing to 100 drums in the streets of Dublin with hundreds of others after a crazy welcome to the city.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'm good at doing quotes from silly movies, I can do a bad Scottish accent and with the right ingredients can make a mean iced coffee. Oh, man I could go one of those right now!

I like learning new things so anyone with a flair who like to share is awesome. Gift of the gab, storytelling, cooking, computery/technology stuff (I'm pretty basic for a kid born in 84), dancing, scratching your foot. Anyone willing to share their talent I'm willing to listen!
