ABOUT ME

I'm a fourth year Creative Writing major at Cal State Long Beach. I just moved into a house with a few of my good friends.

I'm into things like music, film, lit, culture, etc, and stuff I do for fun tends to involve that stuff.

Also, I love lolcats.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm here to learn, I guess. As much as I can, really. About as many things as possible.

Also, I believe there's a time and a place for everything, and it's called college.

I like the idea of exchanging culture, to be honest. Let's spread it all around; the world is for everybody!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as of yet. I've got friends that are involved, and I've heard wonderful stories of camping trips all over Europe.

Eventually, I'll head over there.

Interests

I've been reading a lot lately, actually. I'm reading a lot about the Seth Materials, and it's been positively blowing my mind.

Also, I just discovered Daniel Pinchbeck and his really cool ideas about psychedelics and 2012, so that's got me really interested as well.

I'm also interested in school, I suppose.

And I'm interested in playing some video games.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite band is Radiohead, with Sigur Rós, Elliott Smith, Jon Brion, the Beatles, etc rounding out the top whatever number of bands that was. Lately I've been really into stuff like Fleet Foxes, Kelpe, Lemon Jelly, the Dodos, Ratatat, Girl Talk, Yeasayer, Supertramp, and a whole mess of other bands. As far as movies are concerned, I have kind of a general love of film in general, so it can be tough to list all my favorites. The top three are City of God, Brick, and Pulp Fiction. I also love Newsies.

I'm a big fan of Modernism, so I love Joyce and Hemingway and all that kind of thing. "A Clean, Well Lighted Place" is my favorite short story, and A Portrait of the Artist As a Young Man might be my favorite novel, but that's tough. I really like A Wrinkle in Time, Watchmen, and the Seth Material lately. Robert Anton Wilson is cool, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a few months in Australia, and that was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'm really into music, so I can definitely share some of my record collection, recommend new bands, take your to cool concerts or record stores, and other things like that. I adore spending time in record shops, and bookstores are cool too (but I'm starting to digress).

That being said, I also play music. So anything from jamming to teaching you some things on guitar, piano, whatever (I play a few different instruments) is very good times. I really like anything involving music. Good times there.

Also, my roommate can teach you how to roll a blunt.

My roommates are all more or less into the same types of things, and we also all LOVE to go SURFING. I forgot to mention that, actually. They're big surfers, and as a result I'm getting back into it, so there will definitely be plenty of opportunities to visit interesting surf spots around southern California.
