Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I did ALOT of couchsurfing in Africa. One in particular, I remember I was on the bed with two other people and there were two on the floor. The person sleeping next to me kicked me off the bed in his sleep....so I slept on a chair. IT SUCKED! There have been some good experiences tho.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While traveling through Tanzania, I felt a yearning to go to Zanzibar, however, funds were low and we knew no one there. However, someone had told us of a pastor there. So we took a ferry to stone town and began looking for the church (this is very difficult in Zanzibar because 90% of the population is muslim). Once we found the church, we got someone to lead us to the pastor. We then knocked on his door and asked him if we could stay, to which he permitted. We stayed there a week. I've also seen three cheetahs eating an ampala from 10ft. away :)
Teach, Learn, Share
What I've learned from my travels is that learning the language, even if it's just greetings and your pronunciation sounds terrible, it makes a HUGE differences in your interactions with locals. This may not be true in developed nations.
