ABOUT ME

I am a true blue Vietnamese, though I have been studying in Singapore since 15 (and away from home since then). I may appear to be a bit shy at first, but I am sociable by nature haha. I am truly impressed with the couchsurfing project and encourage such spirit!

PHILOSOPHY

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new, hopefully can fill in this column as soon as next week

Interests

Music (pop culture in general), cultures, languages, meeting people. I can talk hours and hours about the music industries, reality shows and bore my friends to death!! I love drinking even though i cannot drink a lot (and my friends would call me with whatever they want to call)

I haven't had a lot of chance to do adventurous missions but I would love to (esp after my trip to Malaysia for some rock climbing, sea cayaking and trekking back in high school). So sightseeing natural scenics is under my list too.

Running and swimming are my #foreveralone sports. I do enjoy badminton too haha

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-My trip to US was my first trip out of Vietnam (when I was 15). What struck me the most after the trip was how I see US in a very different light, how I should choose to see the world based on what I experience, and not prejudice from a textbook.

-I brought a group of Singaporeans to do community services back at my hometown in Dec 2006. It involves us to look after a child-at-risk,youth-at-risk home, which includes vegetating, interacting with the children at the home. At the end of the trip, though none of my Singaporean friends can speak Vietnamese (they learnt a little during the trip), the kids cried and didn't want them to go. I realised that we are more similar than different.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Vietnamese and its cuisine (just kidding, I can cook tho not very good) and i can teach you Singlish too (you may want to wiki for the meaning of the term haha)

Learn: French (Je dois améliorer mon Français!!) or basic sentences in other languages (survival kits) :D and cultures!

Share: Anything I know about Vietnam (the long history, the stereotypical cultural separation between the north, the central and the south, where you should go to visit) and Singapore. The music industry? A show that you like. A story that may enrich our lives?
