Overview
About Me
Hey, my name is Ngoc (but you can call me Boba!), I'm a Vietnamese Sophomore at Gettysburg College. I'm majoring in Cinema and Media Studies with a minor in Business.
I'm a cats' magnet who has an enormous fascination on meeting new people on the road (I'm in love with all Humans of New York-inspired projects) to absorb new perspectives life through sharing our experience and culture.
I love making documentaries films, recording moments through the lens of my eyes and my camera, exploring nook and cranny of places I'm living in, climbing to rooftops and keeping eyes out for eccentric, quirky culture-reserved places.
I sketch in free time aside from editing videos.
My sense of (dried) humor and sarcasm might go a bit too far since I often unaware of my limits, so please don't be offended.
I'm good with conversations, but especially in-person ones because that's how you can know someone genuinely.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'd love to host some new friends and show them my hometown (Hanoi) in a non-mainstream and non-tourist way as much as possible some day. I figure the best way is to experience it myself first, so I can feel what is like to be a guest and what to expect from one and the others.
I have already lived a third of my life but have not been able to learn all of the cultures, languages in the world yet and I don't think I have enough time to go to school to learn all I want to. But what is a better way for culture exchange and sharing sympathy if not learning directly from locals who represent their country embrace their country's identity the most candid way?

Music, Movies, and Books
I have an endless affection for indie musics and indie films. My all time favorite auteur is Wong Kar Wai (if you have not seen his Chungking Express (1994), do yourself a favor and watch it:) and thanks me later!)
I can seriously talk about the Cinema industry (focus on China and Europe) the entire day:) if you want me to
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm the black sheep in my business-oriented family (I love my family, though! Don't get me wrong) due to my carefree and aesthetics slash good deeds-driven spirituality.
I'm fascinated by strangers and the stories they are caring with them in their backpacks!
I have a pending-ended documentaries film about kids living in one of the most dangerous slump in Hanoi that I used to work with (I'd been their mentor for 1 solid year!). They have trusted me enough to let me record their daily lives , to share me their feelings and struggles of being forced to grow up to early, and many many more things about them that I could have explored if I was a boy. (Sometimes I wish I'm a boy since it's hard, but not impossible, for women to work in such at-risk areas).
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a daring, quirky company but can also be deep, quiet friend to lean on when friends are in need.
If you happen to be in Hanoi (and I'm also in town) then I'd more than love to show you the parts least-explored on mainstream media know town and teach you the joy of riding motorcycle (scooter) though I'm no expert.
I can cat-sitting and would love to help with cooking (I'm no Asian wifey material but I can cook decent and authentic Vietnamese/ Asian dishes :))) or helping with organizing any art-related events.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can be a fun company to play around but definitely I know my limits. I can share with hosts perspectives of a girl coming from Hanoi, Vietnam with stories that might blow your mind.
