About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Rev up for more adventure

ABOUT ME

I love to learn new things and meet new people. I collect hobbies and prefer goal-oriented, adventurous travel; I am currently focusing on Asia, but would love to visit other continents down the road. I studied in Japan during college and fell in love with travel. I'm trying to find excuses to go places and experience new things. By goal-oriented travel, I mean that I try to have a specific goal to achieve everywhere I go. I recently went to China to study Mandarin for a few months and hike some specific mountains, and my ultimate goal for the coming year is to go further my yoga practice in an ashram in India. I used to be quite introverted but over the past couple years I realized just how much I enjoy people. I also love animals of all kinds, and tend to get along well with pets. If I find myself in your neck of the woods, I hope to meet you and learn something new about you and your city!

PHILOSOPHY

you must disrupt your balance to find it again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I had heard about Couch Surfing from a friend who had hosted a few people and had generally good things to say about it. I traveled around for over a year, meeting and staying with CSers on occasion.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed a few times and met up with surfers from all over, and it's always been a positive experience. I'm not too picky about sleeping arrangements, and I try to be respectful of my host and their culture/personality/peculiarities, so I have yet to have any complaints or trouble.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just finished the 88-temple pilgrimage in Shikoku, by bicycle

Hiked the Tianshan mountains in Xinjiang, China. Recently went river climbing with the Waseda Expedition Club in Fukushima, Japan (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zVcb2SVj0U )

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a rather bizarre collection of skills and knowledge. I've taught English and Yoga, and love to coach people when they first learn slackline. I like helping other people because it always helps me just as much.

I think everyone has something to teach, and I'm open to learning just about anything as long as my teacher is passionate about it.
