Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing because I enjoy meeting others--exchanging knowledge, learning, and exploring. I'm hoping to inspire others while also being inspired. I'm exploring what folks have a passion for while better understanding/refining mine. Im curious about the places that highlight beauty and woes in your area. Im interested in meeting unique people like yourselves.

Interests

Poetry and spoken word have been my main creative outlets for the past 14 years. I've performed with a slam team, co-hosted open mics, and busked with my typewriter across the country. I love impromptu / freestyle writing and speaking. Some of my favorite poets are Ocean Vuong, Mary Oliver, Kate Tempest and Ross Gay.

My other artistic expressions span across design, print making, murals, photography and videography. I've worked with a couple of residency and gallery spaces.

I've worked in education and farming/gardening for the past 8 years. This field is now combined as I teach little ones grades 4 - 8. Gardening and education botu focus on community, growing, reciprocity, and joy. These traits are what stoke my flame.

Usually open for romping around, exploring, hiking, climbing tree's, even if its pissing rain.

Political and Social theory and praxis are often on my mind. The way the U.S. currently operates contains many flaws and a blood-soaked history. I don't know what the answers are - socialism, decentralized governmental / societal structures, a green economy, or others. I'm curious enough to keep probing, asking, and experimenting without claiming I know, or taking offense to others points of view (unless you're a bigot).

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Permaculture/Organic gardening basics and set up, Poetry and creative writing techniques. Education methodologies. Tree climbing & yodeling.

Learn: Interested in hearing about people's passions; Mythology and/or philosophy; knowledge about local or regional ecology, plant life, history; Good (subjective, ay) music, art/artists, and yer self!

Share: Explorations mentally or within the environment. Cooking, cleaning, crying.
