About Me

I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. I love traveling and volunteering. I served as an agriculture volunteer in Ghana, West Africa since 2013. My service ended inJune 2016, and I'm currently traveling around Africa/Middle East/Mediterranean before moving back home to Los Angeles.

I lived in a rural village of about 1,000-1,500 people. There is no running water and only electricity 20-30% of the time. It was difficult to go from living in a big city all my life to an African village, but it was the best decision I have ever made. I wouldnt change it for the world.
While serving in Peace Corps I finished my Master of Public Administration in Public and Nonprofit management.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I cant get enough of the world! I want to travel everywhere, meet cool people, and experience everything while I can. Too many of my friends say "maybe next year I can plan a trip", I just hear about something or somewhere I want to go, then make it happen. Finding good places to stay at for decent prices is always the most difficult part of traveling. That, and if none of your friends want to go you will be alone in a new country. I love meeting new people and think couch surfing helps put like minded people together. People helping people.

Interests

I love music. I have been playing the bass guitar for about 15 years. Ive played in many bands and all over southern California (most of the clubs on Sunset Strip in Hollywood, and other places in Los Angeles) and Mexico. I enjoy riding my bike and exercising.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many to list. I have a favorite musician in almost every genre. Ranging from Sinatra to Sublime to Hendrix to Muse to Primus......and so on. I like just about any movie, but comedies are always nice to have playing in the background.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Ran with the bulls in Pamplona
- Ran a 1/2 marathon on the Great Wall of China
-Rode by bicycle 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 7 days for the Aids LifeCycle, to help raise money for HIV/Aids awareness
- DJ'd the Asa Baako (One Dance) Music/Dance/Art festival's Jungle Party 2 years in a row!

Teach, Learn, Share

You name it, I'm in. If you can visit me in Ghana I can teach you some Twi, provide you with some traditional Ghanaian dishes like Fufu or Banku. We can try some of the Ghanaian beers (nothing special to write home about, but still cool to have a local beer), or if you are adventurist we can drink some apotekye (Ghanaian gin/moonshine), there are at least 7 distillers in my village of 1,500 people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An openness to everything new. Im so curious about what makes us different, I will ask tons of questions! I can bring some ingredients and try to prepare you a traditional ghanaian meal, or if you are feeling up to it I usually try to bring some of the ghanaian moonshine distilled in my village to share with people that will never get a chance to visit Ghana, just dont expect it to taste good :)
