I think the best way to get to know a place is by knowing the people. I'm more interested in seeing a place through the eyes of a local, not a tourist.

I'm interested in all things computer science, from front-end web and mobile applications with ReactJS and iOS, to back-end servers in NodeJS, to evolutionary computing and artificial intelligence. I'd love to strike up a conversation sometime!

Evolutionary biology is a hobby and a complement to evolutionary computing and genetic algorithms. It's fun to know the natural principles that guide our algorithms.

Photography and film is a casual hobby. I have a point and shoot camera while I am traveling, but I make the most of it.

I'm also into the great outdoors... so running, hiking, climbing, and just general backpacking around. I'm always down for a hike, exploring the city, or finding a hidden climbing spot.

Music:
I grew up listening to classic rock, blues, jazz, and even some bluegrass on account of my father having been in the music business from the early '70s. While I still enjoy listening to a good rift every now and then, I transitioned to more of a light electronic scene, with some indie mixed in here and there, while still meddling in jazz. It's difficult to categorize what I like. But don't get me wrong, I enjoy most music, so I'm open to some new genres!

Movies:
I'm really not picky when it comes to films, but I do love a good troubled genius film such as Good Will Hunting, The Imitation Game, and A Beautiful Mind. Also 12 Angry Men, Shawshank Redemption, The Matrix, Interstellar, and a few Tarantino or Wes Anderson films. But there are so many out there!

Books:
From fantasy, to psychology, to biology, to astrophysics, I like them all! No matter where I am traveling, I always have my Kindle!
