Overview
About Me
I grew up in Humboldt County California and was fortunate to have parents that took me traveling from a young age. My teenage years were mostly spent working in a restaurant (The Larrupin' Cafe definitely go there if you're ever in Humboldt County) as a dishwasher and eventually as a cook. I went to UC Santa Cruz straight out of high school to study philosophy and education but realized that I needed to take a break from school. I'm currently taking a year off to travel, see new cultures, and find the meaning of life or something. I like all pets but especially dogs. My friends tell me I'm too chill but I like to think I'm thoughtful and sometimes funny.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to travel in a way that offers more enriching experiences than staying in hotels. I like to meet people and see the cultures in the cities that I visit. I really like the idea of Couchsurfing and someday I hope to be able to host people in my own place.
Interests
Backpacking, reading, playing basketball, eating, cooking, playing music, walking my dog, writing (when I have something to say), thinking, learning, and listening, but not necessarily in that order.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is a difficult category to put anything into since my tastes change so frequently. Lately I've been listening to a lot of lyrical indie rock like Courtney Barnett and Pavement but I also like chill electronic and non-misogynistic hip hop. I'm also always interested in hearing live bands and local music.
Some of my favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Jack Kerouac, Kurt Vonnegut, and Shel Silverstein. (The Missing Piece Meets the Big O is the shit!)
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy learning pretty much anything. If you can teach me a new instrument, new song, new philosophy, or new anything I would be thrilled. I'm afraid I don't have a whole lot to teach, as I haven't learned all that many things in life yet. I casually play a few instruments (bass, guitar, and saxophone mostly) and I would be happy to teach you what I know of those.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I always enjoy cooking with people. Mostly I will share my quiet and calm personality with whoever is kind enough to share their house.
