About Me

We are the new CS city ambassadors to Boise. HELLO BOISE!
We previously lived in Denver, Colorado, where we were the city ambassadors from 2017 -2019.

CS posted a blog about us!
https://blog.couchsurfing.com/featured-ambassadors-nick-lauren-of-denver-colorado/

Brought 1,500 couchsurfers together over the years hosting over 20 CS meetups, couch crashes, and events.

About Nick: I was born in Daytona Beach, and moved to Denver as I was 6, and grew up in the suburbs. Lived in Downtown Denver for my undergrad. I am applying to grad schools right now and hope to continue my education towards a Ph.D. I recently graduated with my BA in 2019; during that time, I worked as a paralegal for about 5 years.

About Lauren: Was born in Denver and lived in the suburbs as well. We got married around our sophomore year of college and lived downtown together. She is working on her Masters right now and has worked in accounting for about 5 years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What I Learned on Couch Surfing:
I learned that people care a tremendous amount about each other, and, in turn, I care a tremendous amount about them. Couchsurfing is one of the most robust resources that grants people the ability to become a more culturally versed person. These experiences of cultural exchange are near unobtainable without this community. I would be nothing with Couchsurfing, and what Couchsurfing has given me, continues to give me, and will always have a special place in my development, progression, and heart. I have never found such a great group of people that endlessly astound me. While meeting couch surfers and learning from them, my impressions are that these people have a deep need to learn and better themselves and others.

What ideas came from Couch Surfing:
My (Footsteps Home) idea came about from interacting with couchsurfers. I was always interested in the power of travel and passports and how some travel easier than others and what makes a person travel-oriented, etc. Through my interactions, I found that I love learning about dual citizenship and hearing about cser's unique stories!

Future on Couch Surfing:
Our long term goal is to host at least 20 more parties while in Boise. Maybe even a couch crash!

Interests

About Nick: I tend to have a lot of hobbies and interests, here are a few, in the order of interest: dual citizenship law, drone flying, drone politics, federal politics, international politics, state politics, local politics, cartography, coin collecting, global transportation systems.

I am trying to collect coins and bills from every country (if you bring me a coin or bill from a country that I don't have, I will almost definitely host you!)

About Lauren: road, running, trail running, tea, psychology, accounting management systems, yoga, trivia, indoor rock climbing,

About both of us: We have been to 45 countries, international regions, and states.

Movies/TV:
Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, Breakfast Club, Scrubs, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Parks & Rec, House of Cards, The Matrix

Books:
Infinite Jest, The War of Art, Zen, and Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

About Nick: I was in a swing dance flash mob at Denver International Airport (DIA in 2011).
I come in at 2:56; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDv7NhMjhg4
I hiked 4 sister peaks that were around 4267.2 meters in 5 hours. They are all really close together but it still feels really accomplishing.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are just starting to learn about Boise, so we may not be experts, but we know the basic layout of the transportation system and the fastest route to the Boise Airport.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We own our own home, yay!
We are still setting up the 2nd bedroom for our guests, but if we host before then, it will be on an airbed. We should have towels and WiFi as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Lithuania, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Palestine, Panama, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Vatican City State, Viet Nam
