THINGS NICK LIKES:
Small Scoop - I tend to bite off more than I can chew. That being said I work full time, sometimes take classes, and train about 10 hours a week for triathlons/ultra distance events!
I am currently training for the Ironman in Boulder, CO.
I am obsessed with topics of dual citizenship.
I tend to find myself reading a lot about local and foreign politics.
I love cartography.
I am trying to collect coins and bills from every country(if you bring me a coin or bill from a country that I don't have, I will almost definitely host you!)
Large Scoop- Ironman Training and/or Ultra distance training have become out lives. We love to push the limits of the human body and mind!
Dual Citizenship- I would love nothing more than for dual citizenship businesses to become mainstream and everybody get their 2nd and 3rd citizenships! My goal would be to build a dual citizenship consulting firm for Americans to get foreign citizenships. This is not the way things are going in the world right now though so it is just an intense hobby I have! You can go to my website and look at my work. Footsteps-Home.com I am in the process of listing dual citizenship capabilities of every country in the world. I am also citing every constitution and nationality act I come across.
Local and foreign politics-This is mainly because, the type of travel who do relies on knowledge of economy and political leaders. That being said, if you know about foreign politics, we will probably get along.
Maps- Although I have far from a eidetic memory I have an uncanny ability to memorize maps and global transportation systems.
To sum up, I am an incredibly passionate person and may come off as a little intense.
THINGS LAUREN LIKES: Running half marathons (currently training for 1st full distance marathon!), trail running, tea, psychology, accounting (working on her Master's and eventually CPA), traveling effectively and intentionally, yoga, Scrubs, feminism, taking a ridiculous amount of pictures of our cat, making meaningful connections, wine, trivia
THINGS WE BOTH LIKE: Running, we want a cs running buddy ( if you say you want to run- with either of us we will almost definitely host you) working out, indoor rock climbing, how to travel cheap. We want a guest that can push our perspectives
What we are currently up to and interested in:
Obsessive planning for our 100 country trip! Crossing the entire African continent by bus (45 countries and flying around to see the rest! ( Part of the bigger plan of trying to see almost every country)
Country count: 39
UN Observer States : 2 (Palestine and Holy See)
Special Admin Regions of China: 2 (Hong Kong and Macau)
Independent States: 2 Been, 3 for Future( Island of Taiwan, Kosovo, North Cyprus, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Somaliland)
Autonomous Districts: 1 Been, 1 for Future (Freetown Christiania, Mount Athos)
Maybe 44 depending on how you look at it :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What I Learned on Couch Surfing:
I learned that people care a tremendous amount about each other. In turn, I care a tremendous amount about them. Couchsurfing is the most powerful resource that grants people the ability become a more versed person. Experiences like this are near unobtainable without this community. I would be nothing with couchsurfing and what couchsurfing gives and continues to give me will always have a special place in my development, progressions and my heart. I have never found such a great group of people that endlessly astound me . My impression while meeting couch surfers and learning from them is that these people have a deep need to learn and better themselves and others.
What ideas came from Couch Surfing:
My (Footsteps Home) idea came about from interacting with couchsurfers. I was always interested in the power of travel and passports and how some travel easier that others and what makes a person travel oriented and etc. Through my interactions I found that I love learning about dual citizenship and that advising people would be a worthwhile endeavor for myself and others.
Future on Couch Surfing:
Our long term goal is to travel to 150 countries by the time we are 30.
Nick: qualify for the Boston marathon, run 50 miler, get under 11 hours for Ironman, hike all 53 Fourteeeners, death march in Belgium, Shikoku Trek, hike matterhorn, Go to TED Global.
Lauren: qualify for the Pikes Peak marathon, run 50 K, get under 6 hours for 70.3 Ironman.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a swing dance flash mob at Denver International Airport (DIA). I have hiked 4 mountains that were all each 4267.2 meters tall in one day!
Went to Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark and still had money in my bank account when I left :) I drank three beers in three countries in one day. Hope to beat this someday. :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Can show public transit systems in Denver,.
Can show how to get to the mountains for hiking, offer trail advice.
My wife and I know a thing or two about traveling cheap, but we are always willing to learn as well.
Lastly, I know a fair amount about dual citizenship, visas, naturalization and passport power.
What I Can Share with Hosts
You will have a bedroom upstairs with mattress, fresh sheets, extra sheets, pillows, shower, Wifi.
We also have 4 extra bikes that people can ride around the city.
We will always have craft beer on hand. Local whiskey or vodka!
You will be getting a key so you can come and go as you please.
We also are board game collectors, so if you are interested in inviting other couchsurfers/friends over we can host a board game night!
