About Me

Hello, I'm a gay Canadian with a heart of gold and a penchant for travel and adventure. My dream is to travel the world and experience as much culture, history, food, and people as possible. This community has helped me out many times before and provided some of my best memories. I hope to continue using it and meeting as many new friends as possible. I am a nudist and love clothing optional beaches, events, and accommodations. I adore the freedom and body confidence it gives me. Recently, my travel goals have been redirected to focusing on gay destinations, and I want to visit all the gay villages, bars, beaches, shops, cafes, clubs, festivals and saunas I can. Not that it matters, but I don't drink alcohol and haven’t for over a year now. Although I do love going out and nightlife and dont mind being around others who drink. I love the queer community globally and feel ao lucky to be a part of it. However, this is not at the expense of visiting important cultural and historical landmarks and other local experiences. My travel is never one track minded. I have two years of university under my belt and a TEFL certification. I have worked in the film industry in Vancouver, taught English in Spain, and worked in a trendy Soho restaurant in London where I moved completely on my own. Last year, I received my permanent residency in Australia, and now I work for a French pharmaceutical company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have found that to really appreciate a new country or place, it is important to meet and befriend locals. Local knowledge, opinions, experience, and suggestions are crucial for any trip. Couchsurfing has provided me with amazing memories, friends, contacts, and lessons and also really helped me in sticky situations. When I've traveled using hotels and hostels, this is still possible but usually more difficult. Hangouts on couchsurfing is an amazing feature, and when I was in Madrid, it helped me meet an amazing group of people. We stayed together for nearly a week and are still in touch years later. Besides that, it was this app that introduced me to nudism/naturism, which I fell in love with.

Interests

My interests are extremely varied and continue to grow as I experience new things. I love socializing and spending quality time with people. The great outdoors and natural scenery are dear to me, although I enjoy walking around a big city just as much. Anything that inspires an Instagram post is dear to my heart. I love walking too it's my favorite mode of transportation, and walking tours always get me going. Otherwise I like, reading, swimming, history, museums, beaches, hikes, tours, food (every kind of food, I am not picky), bars, movies, animals, board games, recreational sports, languages, trying new things and above all travel. In Spain, I tried and loved paddle and a traditional folk dance class. Since experiencing the nightlife in Europe, I've grown fond of clubbing and nights out with friends, dancing, and drinks. It's been a goal of mine to overcome as many fears as I can during travel. So far I've crossed off roller coasters (I now love them), deep water (I went scuba diving), eating alone at restaurants (and solo travel in general), got a small tattoo, and heights to an extent and plan to continue this trend. Eventually, I need to ride an air balloon, sky dive, and so forth. I love bargain shopping, markets, second-hand stores, local designers, and independent local shops. Dont even get me started on how much I love bakeries. I also am a sucker for a souvenir or two everywhere I go (I'm sentimental). Gym and exercise have slowly become more of a love of mine, and I am starting to really enjoy running and swimming in particular.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music; I listen to and enjoy almost anything. Sadly though my ability to remember lyrics is lacking and my singing capabilities won't garner me any friends but hopefully that won't scare you away.

Movies; My favorite genre is horror films but oddly enough my favorite films are rarely from that genre. Favorite films include Spice World, Big Fish, Bridesmaids, She's the Man, Watchmen, Spirited Away, Pitch Perfect, and the list goes on.

Books; Crime and Punishment, A song of ice and fire series, Battle Royale, The Road, Watchmen, Blindness, Island, The Giver, Catch-22, The Stand, Life of Pi, Shantaram

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Integrating into a small Catalan town and making it home. The people made it easy by welcoming me warmly, but it is still no less extraordinary to have a foreign place you know nothing about, and nobody there become such a part of who you are. My favorite experience so far has been participating in the town's traditional folk dance, which is celebrated and performed in the town square every year after 3 months of practice. The ball de gitanes dance was first documented in 1767. In my town, I was the first documented foreigner to take part in it, and they introduced me and my American partner from the same teaching program in a speech. I also was interviewed afterward on the local radio station due to my participation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some Canadian culture and some good stories (objective), I can be a good conversation partner and a good friend. Many people have told me I am funny and interesting, and I hold those reviews with pride. I am polite, respectful, and clean and will gratefully leave your place the way it was during arrival, albeit with some new memories. I wish I could say I was a good cook, but I sure do enjoy trying. I hope we can share some time together and plan some activities. Then, one day (soon, hopefully) when I have my own place, I can share it with you to repay the kindness. If you are looking to practice English, it is something I enjoy doing and have done professionally. I'm happy to go on a night out or event together and make good company. If you are a nudist or curious, I am very keen to participate.
