I grew up in a military family so I had a fairly nomadic life style growing up. I lived in California, Florida, Maine, Washington, Hawaii, and Maryland. As a kid I joked how I moved 12 times before I was 12, but I did most of my growing up in Maryland. From that experience, I developed a comfort level being both an extrovert and introvert.

WHY I AM TRAVELING?

When I was a child my grandfather showed me our Irish family crest and ever since I have had a strong interest in history and Europe. After school, I fell into corporate America and never got to travel. I like my job and love the people I work with, but I am looking for my next challenge and whilst in-between careers - I will be backpacking through Europe.

WHY COUCHSURF?

Saving money is only a small reason for why I am on Couchsurfing. I love the idea of connecting with people that I would never of had the chance to meet and learn from other cultures. Not to mention, the best way to learn about a city is from the locals. However, if you are busy or just wish to offer me a place to stay, I do not mind being independent and showing myself around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only recently joined, so I am still very much a rookie.

I've played and watched sports my whole life, I especially enjoy going to sporting events. I am hoping to catch a few football games while I am in Europe.

Over the past year, I've discovered a real passion for the outdoors - long day hikes, rock climbing, and going out on the water via kayaks or Stand Up Paddle boards.

I really enjoy cooking.

I like my Sundays long and lazy with an episode of Game of Thrones at the end.

Im always trying new craft/IPAs beers; however, I am not a beer snob, especially if the beer is free. Also, an unabashed fan of wine, preferable to reds.

A few general insights - ultimately, I'm a movie buff. I enjoy almost every genre of movies - I especially enjoy those that make me think. My approach to music is very much the same way, I love so many bands and genres that my choices depend on the day and mood. Nothing beats Live Music, that's for sure. I work two jobs, so I do not read as much as I should - usually my book stack consists of historical non-fiction, what if history, dystopian, fantasy, or inspirational.
