Life...it has a way of changing in ways that we don't always want or expect.

After years of traveling/living/volunteering internationally, I sadly made the decision to move back to the city to work and build up a retirement income. Being a grown up kinda sucks sometimes :(

I work in an older adult activity centre and really love my job. With that being said, my heart craves getting back on the road and seeing new places, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people which isn't really possible at this time. So, I decided to get back to how I started traveling in ther first place...Couchsurfing. I started hosting people from around the world so that's what I'm going to start doing again hoping it will fill a very empty void for me.

Even though I'm very well rounded and love adventure, experiencing something new, meeting new people, and learning new cultures, I very much enjoy solitude too. A friend once told me that I was a mystery wrapped in an enigma (I think he hit the nail on the head with his description of me).

For me, it's the people in every location that make traveling worthwhile. Volunteering and learning/experiencing new cultures really truly bring me so much joy. Simplicity is the key and when I travel and volunteer, I prefer to live as a local so I can fully be part of their daily lives.

Since becoming a part of this community, the many people from all walks of life, who have passed through my life, have helped me see the world and intensified this incredible passion for learning new cultures and giving back some of what has been given to me along this road in life.

Retired from my career at the age of 50, sold my belongings, became a nomadic volunteer and minimalist that travels for 6-7 months of the year.
