About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Try everything at least once.

ABOUT ME

I'm from a small town in California, where there are more cows than people... I'm currently spending a semester in London, where suddenly I'm the one with an accent.

I can't play the banjo, nor can I fly-fish, but I can play jazz saxaphone, sew a button, discuss theories of neurodevelopment, bake bread from scratch, drive a manual car, climb a mountain, navigate a canyon, tell a story, and make the best barbecue chicken outside of Georgia. I have many interests, and am open to most anything. Mostly, I like to meet interesting people and learn about them, learn about different cultures, and swap stories.

PHILOSOPHY

An unlived life isn't worth examining.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: This is Water--David Foster Wallace, The Hakawati--Rabih Alameddine, To Kill a Mockingbird--Harper Lee
Music: Anything from choral to hip-hop to bluegrass to me singing in the shower...
Movies: Snatch, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Vertigo

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen the sun rise from the top of Mt. Shasta while hypothermic--it didn't actually feel that cold... which is one of the signs that you're too cold, I suppose.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach people whatever I know, from cooking Southern food to rock climbing, from how the nervous system develops to how to sing. I am willing to share any and all knowledge that I have
As far as what I want to learn--specifically I want to learn how to wrap a tagelmust or turban, make a great cup of espresso, play a new instrument, and learn a new language.
However, in general, I want to learn about other cultures, see an inside view on another culture. I want to learn interesting skills from interesting people, no matter if they're applicable skills or not.
