Overview
About Me
I live on an off-the-grid farm outside of Marshall, NC, in the beautiful Appalachian mountains. There I practice traditional woodworking and hide-tanning techniques. I believe strongly in the need for food security and beyond, for livelihood security as well. That is why I teach traditional living skills to adults and children around the Southeast. I like to travel, to experience and explore new ecosystems and landscapes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I travel on a very limited budget and want an easy way to find cheap or free places to stay in new places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived for a year without electricity, gas power, running water, out any of what we consider the "basic amenities", in the Appalachians mountains. It was an eye-opening experience that taught me how to work hard, how to be comfortable in diverse situations, and how to be at peace with my inner workings within an outer silence.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn! Anything you want to teach, I'll soak up as much as I can. I'm currently most interested in bike maintenance and repair, and of course any primitive or traditional living skills.
I will happily teach what I know about outdoor living, primitive skills, farming and permaculture systems, wild foods, and alternative nutrition.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversation, good food, an able body and a strong work ethic.
