Hello :) I am from Manchester, UK, travelling with my partner James from Northern Ireland. We're on a trip of a lifetime, away for 5 months with the headline slot for our final 2 months (April - June) - Japan!

We have always wanted to go to Japan, loving the food, culture, aesthetic, cities and countryside. I began saving money for this trip and learning Japanese in 2020. My fascination was spurred on watching the Japanese reality tv show Terrace House, where the courtosey and kindness of Japanese people shone through - whereas James's interest lies with Japanese city pop, fashion and movies (particularly horror).

James and I are animal lovers, we have a cat back home, professionally pet sit (we can send our references) and volunteer for animal charities. We also LOVE trying new local foods to an area and speaking to locals to learn about their daily life, customs, values, hobbies etc., and unique aspects about their towns/villages.

Back home, I work at a University and James is a musician. However on this trip we are not working and want to immerse ourselves in the areas we are visiting and explore.

I have been learning basic Japanese since 2020. James has been learning on Duolingo this last year. We would love to practice, and are happy to teach English if hosts want to.

We are creative - I enjoy painting and James enjoys creating music.
