About Me

I’m French, 42 years old, live in Brazil, single and foreign language teacher. I live in the State of São Paulo at 140 kms from São Paulo city and 100 kms from the beautiful coast. My town is considered small in Brazil with its 302 331 inhabitants. I teach 5 languages through private classes and one of the most interesting part of my job is the contact with so many different people: children, teenagers and adults from very different areas (engineers, doctors, militaries, nones, hotel owners, multinational company directors, artists, psychologists, teachers, architects, almost in all areas of society). I also lecture on Jacques Lacan (psychoanalysis).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I went to Sweden for the first time in 2016 for 2 weeks in order to practice Swedish. Now, I can say that I speak quite well, but I still need to perfect it. So I will be in Sweden again between June 22nd and July 8th 2018. I intend to stay the first week in Uppsala (I'm looking for a person who could speak with me 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon for 5 days, like "conversation classes", I can pay for it) and then I want to travel in the country and I'm open to any invitation.

Interests

I like to study by myself several things, especially psychoanalysis (Lacanian), philosophy and foreign languages. You can see my lectures on Jacques Lacan on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZB7iN85jhs&t=2526s). I basically like to meet people. I sing with my guitar (French, Irish, Spanish, Argentinian, Mexican songs). I used to be a writer (I published a book in Portuguese) and I will probably come back to write in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

About amazing things I’ve done in my life, two of them deserve the first place.
When I was 20 years old, my 16-year-old girl friend and me hitch-hiked from Toulouse to Paris, then took a plane to New York, then hitch-hiked to Mexico, spent there a month and a half travelling from the desert to Acapulco, then came back hitch-hiking to New York and took a plane back to Paris...
When I was 23, I travelled more than 2 000 kms of Brazilian beaches from South to North, selling handmade postcards, sleeping most part of the trip in the jungle or on the street. I wrote a book in Portuguese about this second adventure (http://www.saraiva.com.br/a-caminho-do-sol-9242314.html)

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I teach 5 languages, I can of course help you in any way to learn one of these languages. As I study psychoanalysis, I can explain you some complex ideas of Jacques Lacan or speak about psychoanalysis and the human psyche. As I live in Brazil for 18 years, we can speak about the culture of this country which is harder to understand than it seems. Of course we can speak of my own culture, the French one. And if you like to hear stories about people and trips, I have plenty of them...
