About Me

I’m Nicolas, 26, from Lucerne, Switzerland. I’m an active person who enjoys sports, meeting people, and diving into conversations about anything and everything. I thrive on exchanging knowledge and discovering new experiences right outside my doorstep.

Thanks to my parents, I caught the travel bug at an early age. From scouting camps to small adventures across Europe, my curiosity only grew—until it was time for something bigger. In August 2024, I set off on a world trip, starting from my hometown with my thumb out, hitchhiking through Europe until I reached Gibraltar in late September. Within 24 hours, I found a circus crew willing to take me aboard, and together we crossed the Atlantic. We arrived in Bequia on January 5th, and from there, I continued my journey to Martinique and the Dominican Republic. For the past month, I’ve been exploring the east side of the U.S. with a friend of mine, embracing every new experience that comes my way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get in touch with people from all over the world

Interests

I’m curious about people and their life stories. I love exchanging experiences, sharing passions, and finding inspiration in the journeys of others. Whether deep conversations about everything under the sun or spontaneous adventures, I enjoy making real connections along the way.

Sports are another big part of my life, especially water sports. Growing up by Lake Lucerne, I developed a love for swimming, windsurfing, bungee surfing, and stand-up paddling. Whenever I get the chance, I hop on my racing bike, head out onto the water, or explore new ways to stay active.

When I’m in the mood for something more relaxed, I roll out my yoga mat or dive into a good book—or even a newspaper (yes, some of us still read those!). Whether on the road or at home, I appreciate both adventure and the quiet moments in between.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking is still alive and well—even in Switzerland. It’s not just a way to get from A to B, but an adventure in itself, offering the chance to meet interesting people and experience the journey in a whole new way.
