Overview
About Me
I am originally from Canada.I met my Aussie husband while backpacking in oz in 1998 when I answered an ad to crew on his sailboat. We have been living on a sailboat for 17 years. When I have to work I am a remedial massage therapist and a stay at home mom of 2 kids.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I sometimes have to travel for massage therapy workshops - without my family -and I thought this would be a a nice alternative to a lonely hotel room! During our sailing travels, we have had backpacking crew onboard. Always with no experience, just a thirst for learning and adventure. We have not have a negative experience. Although it's not officially CS , it's our way! We have had OS friends/ family visit us and stay onboard while in Brisbane but unfortunately it's not everyone's idea of fun taking a dinghy back and forth everyday. Plus we have 2 kids now so personal space can be at a premium! But we are always keen to take people sailing with us for the day/ wknd. Too bad work gets in the way of most of our sailing plans currently. We plan to stay in Brisbane for about 4yrs in order to save $- then it's off sailing again- likely across the pacific.
Interests
Travelling and sailing the world. Learning about other cultures, people and countries. I love being fit, running, swimming , SUP, cycling. Watching my kids learn "free-range". I also enjoy food and cooking. I try to adhere to "clean living and eating" but i do enjoy a cold beer/ wine/ spirit! I am a vegetarian who occasionally indulges in fish and seafood. My husband and kids are not vegetarians!

Music, Movies, and Books
Love movies when I get the opportunity to watch one! I'll pretty much watch anything. 80s/90s fan of John cusak movies, princess bride & willow are old favourites too . I'm a Dedicated triple J listener. Prefer more alternative, quirky/ folky/ punkish, non mainstream music. Like supporting local Aus music ( and Canadians !) I enjoy reading (married to a book addict ) but these days it's a luxury to find the time. Kids books are what I read mostly :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled by sailboat from Brisbane to Malaysia and returned through Indonesia, PNG and the Solomon Islands, back to Brisbane with my husband and 2 kids
Teach, Learn, Share
We just returned from a year cruising SE Asia , PNG and Solomon Islands. I love sharing our experiences! I'm now more passionate than ever about trying to live sustainably , I'm always keen to learn and practice more.
