ABOUT ME

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, but have been lucky enough to grow up all over the world.

You'll figure it out soon enough, but I love reading. My challenge for myself now is to stop living in my head and between the pages of books, and start living the adventures I keep daydreaming about in my own city. I live in one of the most beautiful areas of the world, and yet I have barely looked out past the dusty corners.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like going for drinks and exploring new places. I like 3am conversations about life while sitting on a bridge. Getting lost in new places is a fantastic adventure.

My passions have always been literature, music, and books. I love animals, especially dogs. Experimenting with cooking is a lot of fun! My money is generally spent on books and perfume.

I love sinking my teeth into a new story. There's something addictive about slipping into a new character's skin and thoughts.

Books: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ian McEwan, Vladimir Nabokov, Jeffrey Eugenides, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Umberto Eco. Any story with a bit of mystery, history and a unique perspective into human life appeals to me.

Movies: I have a passion for Disney movies and I am not ashamed. Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Last Night, Stage Beauty, The Edge of Love, Hot Fuzz, Lost in Translation, An Education

Music: this will obviously vary and change often. Anything that's good to sing along to!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

My favourite memory in the whole world is when I was travelling to Venice. We decided to explore, to get away from the touristy places, and just get a feel of the place. As we wandered, we got tired and sat on a small bridge between a few houses. Somebody in a nearby house started playing the piano: it was the most beautiful music I've ever heard, made more beautiful that I couldn't see the pianist, only hear their music, while sitting in their streets.
