About Me

My name is Nicole. I'm currently working toward my law degree at Emory University. My passion lies in international human rights law.

I believe in constantly learning new things. I attempt to live my life in a way that brings me joy while simultaneously improving the lives of others around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I couchsurfed throughout Europe during the summer of 2013. I backpacked through Germany, Austria, France, Spain, and Portugal with the help of couchsurfing. During that time, I met a lot of awesome people who taught me so much about their cultures and communities-- I know I'll stay in touch with many of them for years to come. Now I hope to continue returning the kindness at my home back in the U.S.

Interests

-MUSIC: I adore singing and playing the banjo. My evenings are almost always spent in the presence of live music.

-WRITING

-TRAVEL: I love to document my adventures overseas! (http://fromversaillestoversailles.tumblr.com)

-LANGUAGE: I've studied Spanish substantially, and I spent a little bit of time in Ecuador two winters ago.

-ACTIVISM: I plan to spend the rest of my life advocating for human rights. I love meeting like-minded people with similar social justice interests.

-TATTOOS

-ART: Dali, Klimt, Van Gogh, Hirst, Degas. So many different artists make my heart flutter. I'm also a sucker for visiting modern art museums and my hometown's monthly gallery hop.

-INTERIOR DECORATING: I have an embarrassing obsession with HGTV and home decor.

-CRAFTING: DIY projects and arts & crafts hold a special place in my heart. I particularly like to needlepoint. I know, I'm basically a grandma.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are too many to list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One New Year's I watched as huge piles of años viejos went up in flames on a beach in Ecuador. At the same time, children were setting fireworks off all around my head. Scary (and exciting) stuff.

I also got to spend time with cave-dwellers in Granada, Spain. Hands-down one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning about different cultures and cities I visit from the actual people living there, not from guidebooks.

I can teach you about legal things, feminist theory, banjo-playing, needlepoint, life in Kentucky, life in Atlanta, and probably a million other things.

Hopefully we can share stories from our own personal adventures!
