Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Nicole, I currently live just outside of Washington, DC and grew up near Nashville, Tennessee (though both of my parents are from different parts of New York!) My background is environmental--I love the outdoors and am dedicated to making the world a better place. I currently work in Higher Education in an enrollment/admissions type of role and I'm working towards being more active in the realm of human rights and women's rights. I love to write, love to laugh and make corny jokes, and love meeting new people and adventuring. I have been to about 27 US states and traveled and farmed in the UK and spent some time traveling in Europe as well.
CURRENT MISSION
To be well and help others. And try to do something every day that makes me feel fulfilled and happy and that is making a difference. And to have fun!
TRAVEL PLANS
One of my dear friends from college (who was also an environmental major) and I are doing a road trip through a rural area of upstate New York to visit some family of mine and then to Niagara Falls, Toronto and then likely Montreal and then down to Vermont. We have never been to Canada and we are ecstatic about our trip because we have heard so many great things about spending time there. Any information or tips about places we should visit is very appreciated.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am a member of Couchsurfing to meet great people in the places that they live. I have found that Couchsurfing has been a much more fulfilling and inspiring experience than staying in a hotel, hostel, etc. To have someone open their home to you without ever meeting you is such an incredibly kind gesture that you can't help but want to pay it forward and help others as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with some really wonderful people in the Philadelphia, PA area as well as Queens, NY, and abroad I've stayed with hosts in Paris, Prague, Dresden, Berlin, Ireland, Wales and England. All of my hosts have been lovely.
Interests
Of course I love traveling and meeting new people, learning, I have a huge sweet tooth (cookies are a huge weakness but almost anything that is sugary), I love the outdoors, antiques, dancing (I'm not a professional--I just love to dance!), barns, animals, small towns, photography, making corny jokes, trying new foods and cooking/preparing new dishes, soccer, hiking
- chocolate
- farmers' market
- traveling
- snorkeling
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I absolutely loved walking the Coastal Path in Wales. I did, however, find myself walking it at dusk (I did not plan on being out there in the dark), and luckily made it to my destination without getting stuck on a cliff at night! So perhaps that is one of the crazier things that I've done...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a vegetarian who is mostly vegan, I love animals and am not allergic to any of them, and I love kids as well.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belize, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Wales
