Hi traveler, I'm Niek, 29 years old and grew up in the Netherlands.

I would describe myself as a social, talkative guy with always new (mostly impossible) ideas in my head. I'm a dreamer and a thinker with a creative mindset who's always in for a good conversation. I'm in love with life and see always possibilities around me. I like to travel a lot (ofcourse), especially on own force, like long-distance hikes or biketrips.

In 'normal' daily life I work as photographer in the social/human sector. My favorite kind of photography is to take portraits of people in their own habitat. At www.niektricotteux.com you can watch some work if you want.

My main hobbies are being busy with art and music, going to non-commercial and (sub)cultural activities/parties and hangout outside with some friends.

I say non-commercial because I believe how more you're focussed on money how less human you can be. So fuck money, best of life is for free!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

It's an amazing exchanging experience. I met many great personalities from all kind of cultural backgrounds. Some I just met once, some became friends. It doesn't mind how or what, everyone gave new ideas or views on life.

音乐、电影和书籍

Music: All kinds that's come from the heart, especially calm- or psychedelic electronic music but also jazz, rock and typical cultural music from all over the world. Some favourites are Massive Attack, OTT, Kaya Project, Brian Eno and Philip Glass.

Movies: Work of Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a dream, Black Swan, Pi), Jean Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, Amelie), Luc Besson (Le Grand Bleu, Leon, Subway).

Books: Modern- and for me readable philosophy or psychology, Sophie's world is a one of my favorites. I'm also a fan of the adventures of TinTin.

I cycled last year from Fes, Morocco back to my home in Zwolle. It was a amazing trip and also my first experience with couchsurfing as guest.
