About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to sleep under the stars

ABOUT ME

Well I just got back from my one year venture in North and Central America. Now I'm slowly adapting to my old - new world here in Vilnius.

I graduated from university with a degree in cultural history and anthropology, which somewhat defines my mindset. I'm vegetarian attempting to become a vegan, and incurable animal lover.

PHILOSOPHY

Walking barefoot.

Being meaningful rather than seeking to be happy.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love hosting people and never had any negative experience. When you are bound to one place it's definitely the best way to travel without leaving the place. I met amazing people and learnt a lot from them.

Interests

Cultural history, especially 20th century, soviet and post-soviet societies. I love arts, especially adore naive art, street and social photography of the 20th century. I like outdoors very much. Could spend hours hiking or climbing the mountain without any human being in sight. At the same time I'm a city person, I feel more comfortable and intimate in the crowds. I love cooking, fresh and healthy foods, especially making raw desserts.

Music, Movies & Books

These names could help you get the idea of my music taste: Rene Aubry, Keith Jarrett, Katalena, Iva Bittova, Pink Floyd, Marie Boine, Madredeus, Ella Fitzgerald, Yann Tiersen, the Doors, Pat Matheny, Mulatu Atsake, Florence and The Machine, Devendra Banhart, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes.

There are just too many good movies and I cannot mention all of them here, but my favorite directors are definitely Fellini and Hitchcock. I think that Twin Peaks by David Lynch is a masterpiece.

Books. Well I do read a lot. I like poetry. Julio Cortazar is one of my favorite writers. Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Lately I prefer nonfiction.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

With a friend tried to cross Serbian border without passports.

Spent a night in a former mill on the top of the mountain in Algarve region, Portugal. One of the most gorgeous mornings I've ever had in my life.

Spent summer in the Canadian Rocky mountains, surrounded by the sea of endless peaks.

Lived in a remote island near the Northern Vancouver Island, BC, for a about a month, reachable only by a boat.

Countries I've Visited

Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I've Lived In
