About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making the world a better place, byte by byte and bite by bite.

ABOUT ME

I think of myself as a techno-hippie.

I like doing stuff with computers and I'm quite okay at it. Not all computers though :-)

On the other hand I'm quite the hippie, I've been a vegan since January 2013 and a vegetarian for many years before that. I also try to live with a small footprint, not buy stuff I don't need etc etc.

I've been doing acrobatics and acroyoga since 2013 now which I quite like, handstands yay!

I've been living in Amsterdam since 2000. I like electronic music, scifi books and movies, vegan food, poi, juggling and hanging out with interesting people.

PHILOSOPHY

I am agnostic, so I'm basically not sure of anything.

I believe people are inherently good. I believe the life of an animal is worth just as much as a human life. If the animal attacks me I will defend myself (damn you mosquitoes!) but cows in general don't attack me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to surf and host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed exactly one night in Krakow Poland, but I really needed that one night though :D

Interests

Biology, technology, sociology, drugs, music, dancing, politics, history, art.

I'll tell some more about my work in this box, because I can! I work at Minddistrict (minddistrict.com) where we make a web application for online psychological treatment. One of the reasons I chose this job was because I like to make the world a better place. Another reason was because the tech we use is cool.

I have another job as a volunteer for Unity (unity.nl) where I go to parties to give people information about drugs, any kind of drugs. We don't tell people to no do drugs (not that that works but..) we *do* give people information about how to use drugs in a sane and safe way. As an example: if you want to do MDMA (XTC): get your pills tested. I like working for Unity because I think using drugs responsibly can be an enrichment of your life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really liked Inception actually. Sunshine (Danny Boyle), Moon, bad 80s movies.

Music: I have these phases: deephouse, psytrance, ambient, techno, tekno. But 99% of what I listen to is electronic. Also Kaytranada (!).

Sci-fi books, but I mostly read articles online.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the weirdness of it all.

Boom Festival (2014) in Portugal was cool. As was Fusion festival in Germany (2014).
