ABOUT ME

I'm a Brazilian who's trying to get through a Ph.D. in the United States, more specifically at Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN). I am also a Teaching Assistant and I 'have to' work for the programs for gifted students we have at Purdue. I'm getting my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Gifted Education).

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not sure if I have defined my personal philosophy, but if I had, it would certainly be related to the things I am interested in: people, education, music, learning, traveling, etc.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am quite new to CS, but I'm really interested in becoming a more active member. I have been to only one CS meeting in West Lafayette (we haven't had many), but I'm planning to attend others soon.
I guess I was a kind of couchsurfer even before this website existed. I have participated in different kinds of activities (such as a musical group) that involved traveling to different places and staying at people's houses for one, two, at most three nights.
I also come from a family that simply loved to host people. My parents never hesitated to volunteer to host people who came to my town for different reasons and from all kinds of places. It was a great experience, mainly for me, since I was the only one who spoke English and had to be a translator whenever we had foreigners as guests (which didn't happen all too often)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A couple of CouchSurfing meetings in West Lafayette. Ready for my first real CS experience, which could happen in about a week or next summer.

Intereses

Studying, research, teaching, meeting people, having a good time with my friends, music, movies, literature... I'll have to come back to this question later...

Music? A lot of music, always! Jazz (Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Coltrane, Milt Jackson, Charles Mingus, etc.); Random best bands/artists ever: Pixies, Weezer, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, The Clash, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, O Rappa, Ultramen, etc.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I guess the most amazing thing I've done was to be part of a (actually, some) rock (actually, I've played many different styles) band (but everybody calls bands that have the typical guitar/bass/drums/vocals set up a rock band). I've met a lot of people, I've performed in front of a lot of people, and I've learned a lot about how to deal with people by performing for them.
