Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm addicted to meeting new people. Hosting when possible, hanging out, rarely surfing.

Interests

Art and design. What is now called «Digital product design» — that I do for a living. Apart from that I'm interested in interfaces for music expression and interactive sound installations, drawing with markers and fineliners, street art, a bit of calligraphy and random contemporary art.

Cooking. Back in the days I happened to cook in 3 different restaurants in the US. Since then I like to hang out in the kitchen sometimes with pots and pans. My favourite cuisines are Indian, Mexican, Italian, Greek and Middle-Eastern.

And I like to go out.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a collection of records and several dedicated hard drives for music, love going to festivals, music venues or clubs.

I once was looking for a host in Ghent, who would go to the same gig I was coming for, so I found one by adding «breakcore» in the keywords field while searching. Books. During my school years, I had very few friends, but just crazy amount of books. I mostly enjoy classical literature, contemprorary fiction and science-fiction, my CS nickname «Wrickwrackrum» comes from a novel «Fire Upon The Deep» by Vernor Vinge. It also would be my first choice if you ask for a sci-fi book recommendation.

Movies. I collect short-film animation and love independent cinema. Always on a hunt for a good movie or animation I haven't seen. Also always willing to share something from my collection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first time on a surfboard was in the rain at 15°C and my wet-suit said «Meatloaf». May not sound impressive, but it was amazing. Take me surfing.
