Overview
About Me
I'm from a small town in rural Illinois and am trying to experience as much of this beautiful world as possible! In college I joined a circus, and fell in love with the craziness, and all the weird, wonderful people that are a part of that community. It changed my life; I would be a very different person if I hadn't stumbled into the circus.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am currently a contract employee for Cirque du Soleil. As a contract employee, I am responsible for finding my own housing each city, which can be tough.
I've heard such good things about the couchsurfing community - while I haven't had the opportunity to host through this site, I have housed strangers that were in town for juggling festivals, passing through on their way to new jobs, stuff like that. I'm still in touch with most of those former strangers, hosting them was a blast.
Interests
Circus, live music, being outdoors (hiking, paddling, anything). These three things are the best for my soul, and my favorite things to find in a new city. I also like making things, which I don't do so much on the road. My most recent project was making the flowers (out of paper and so, so much hot glue) for my friend's wedding last year.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - I listen to a bit of everything, but mostly alternative. Newest favorite band is Nahko and Medicine for the People, and I'm a huge fan of Bastille. Capital Cities was an especially amazing show, I danced my butt off.
Movies - Don't watch them much on my own, but I have watched Down Periscope more times than anyone should.
Books - I usually go for young adult fiction. Easy, happy, good-mood reads.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Unicycled across a tightwire in front of thousands of people. I can't currently do that, but I used to have skills.
Also worked on a ranch in the mountains of New Mexico for a summer, that was an amazing place.
(Yeah, I know it said one)
Teach, Learn, Share
Depending on if I have my car and what gear I have in it I can try to teach you some circus skills, or we can have a craft night (my college roommates and I had regular painting nights, one went from having me mix her paint to making her own work by the end of it).
I love picking up odd skills, so if you have a passion you like to share, count me in. Or if you can point me towards the green places in your city, I'd love it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have an odd schedule - mostly evenings and weekends, so if you have a dog that gets lonely during the day while you're at work, I can keep them company and take them for walks. Or if you hate washing up your breakfast dishes, I got it. I like making people's days just a little bit better if I can, even if they're not giving me a place to live, so if there's something I can do to help out, let me know!
