Hi! My hobbies include hiking, theatre, dancing, kickboxing, singing, making absurdistic jokes, listening to obscure music and playing guitar. I’ve just graduated high school and my life is rapidly changing, I just spend a month in Italy as an au pair, I’m preparing myself to go to university in September and while everything is different now anyways, why not try to travel a bit too?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While you were visiting a foreign city, map and tourist guide in hand, crossing off the next tourist trap, have you ever had the feeling: what am I doing now exactly? Is this even the ‘real city’, are these the real places to be, when there’s literally no local here? For example, I’ve lived 8 kilometres from Gouda my whole life, but I’ve never once visited the world-famous Cheese Market with girls and boys in traditional costume who are throwing cheeses and are smiling at tourists. No, I know better places in Gouda, I know the nice little shops, the wonderful antique markets, the most beautiful places where you can swim and I know the places where I feel at home.

And I want to experience this in other cities too, and you can be of help! You can show me proudly all the best underground music places, the bars, the barbecue spots, etcetera. But most importantly, I can meet you. Because what is traveling without meeting interesting people and making a new friend? What is a city without the people?
