ABOUT ME

I study how the war in eastern DRC affects maternal and child health. This work fulfills me, but requires that during non-work hours I fill my time with activities and adventures that bring me joy. And so that is what I do.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind to yourself. If you aren't, it could be hard for you to be kind to others. If you are, you'll need little more than the happiness you keep finding in your pockets.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a birthing doula I am invited into the most transformative moment that a person or couple experiences. I have been to nearly 100 births in four countries and these are my wonders of the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic throwing skills (pottery), English or Swahili, research methods, childbirth education and I have a small library of books on health, conflict, and anthropology.

I want to learn more about "primitive" kilns, pit firing and ash glazing. I would also like to learn more about sun drying fruits.
