My name is Nikkie, I'm 27 and I'm currently traveling the world with my sisters. I'm an outgoing person who loves new experiences and getting to know new people. My mission in life is to see the world and never stop learning! I'm interested in a lot of different things and am constantly following different courses and workshops. My main interests are singing and acting (musical!) make-up (I'm a freelance make-up artist for adults and children), writing, books (all different genres) and languages. When I'm feeling lazy I'm also a serial-series-bingewatcher. I love, loove, food but I don't like cooking. When I'm traveling I like to discover local dishes as local food is such an important part of local culture.

I have been working for a publishing house for children's literature. But right now I just graduated as a teacher. I love teaching both children as well as adults.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel the world. I want to use couchsurfing as a way to get to know local people and other travelers. I want to share experiences and stories and maybe even make new friends all over the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all different kinds of music. Especially pop, 80's music, and indie. For example I can listen to Florence and the machine, terence trent d'arby and Taylor Swift alike.
My favorite bands and artists at this moment are: Ed Sheeran and Alexz Johnson

For heavy reading I prefer poetry over novels. For light reading I love reading chicklits and ya-novels such as harry potter or the hunger games series. I also like reading detective novels.
My favorite book at this moment is: :cold blood by Truman Capone

I like watching lighthearted movies that make you feel good. (Such as bridget jones), movies that are cinematographically beautiful (such as the moulin rouge) and costume drama's (such as the jane austen adaptations) I also love animation movies (especially the old classic disney movies) but in general I'm not a real movie geek. The best movie I've seen this year was the shawshank redemption.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in the national Junior-eurovisionsongfestival as a teenager which was an amazing experience because it introduced me to professional singing and performing for the very first time. This has led me to musical school and some experiences in the workfield later on. It's a passion I will continue to explore for the rest of my life. On the stage as well as teaching music on the side.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach other people not to give up on their dreams. I've taken a lot of bends and loops and got lost more then once untill I finally found what I wanted to be doing. And to be very honest I'm still not a 100procent sure. I can teach other people who are worried about their future that everything will always be okay in the end. And reassure them that it's okay not to have your sh*t together. After all it's only by getting lost and finding your way that you learn the most.

I want to learn to do more thing impulsively. I have a tendency to want to plan everything and that is just not possible. I want to learn to relax more and go with the flow.

I want to share experiences with other people. I'm very social and I don't like to do things all by myself. Life is so much more beautiful if you can share it with others.
