Overview
About Me
Hej, I’m Niklas, 28 years old and from the beautiful city of Lübeck in northern Germany. I’m currently studying architecture in my Master’s program. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, cooking, or working on various DIY and home projects. I also love traveling and always enjoy meeting new people and discovering new places and cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ve used Couchsurfing several times before, but mostly together with friends through their accounts, which is why my own profile is still quite empty. I truly believe Couchsurfing is a great way to experience places in a much more personal and authentic way and to connect with local people. Through Couchsurfing, I’ve already discovered many places that I would never have found as a regular tourist.
At the moment, I’m using Couchsurfing because I’m planning to travel to Damascus in February for my Master’s thesis. Having a local contact on site - someone I could ask a few questions or maybe even spend some time with - would be an incredible help for my research and for getting to know the city from a local perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite Music: I’m into all kinds of music, from classical pieces to hard techno, depending on the mood and vibe. I listen to a lot of classic rock though — which is probably why my Spotify Wrapped said my musical age is 60. Recently, I’ve also discovered Tuareg music, which I’ve really gotten into.
Favorite Films: I guess I could list all the classic “film bro” movies from Interstellar to The Godfather, but that would be a bit boring. Recently, I watched The Fifth Seal by Zoltán Fábri, which I found amazing—especially knowing the historical background. If you ever come across it, I can highly recommend it.
My favorite film as a child was The Goonies by Steven Spielberg, which I still absolutely adore.
Favorite Books: Picking favorites is kind of hard for me. I’ve always liked Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse, but also The Trial by Kafka and 1984 by George Orwell. At the same time, I still really enjoy Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. I guess I’ve stayed a bit of a nerd—sue me
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favorite travel experiences was hiking the Inca Trail in Peru to Machu Picchu.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m not sure if I can teach anything very specific. I think I’m a pretty decent cook, but compared to local cuisines it’s probably not that impressive. I could definitely teach you a few words in a language we don’t share, or maybe some basic craftsmanship—especially woodworking, since I have a background in carpentry.
On the other hand, I get easily excited about almost anything, so if you can teach or show me something, I’d truly appreciate it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m always happy to share a coffee, tea, beer, or whatever you prefer, and just enjoy a good conversation or experience together.
