About Me

I've been trying to discover this world on not so typical travel opportunities, then started to work and now try to get back to travel more. I'm a very curious person who likes to discover and try as many new things and meet as many interesting people as possible.
For some more info you can check out my Instagram profile (nikilax_hb) and my websites www.niklashb.com, www.effectiveimpact.consulting

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always enjoyed meeting people with different but very interesting stories and I've mostly met these people travelling. Additionally, I like to actually find out about the culture of the places I travel to and meet locals. I believe couchsurfing is a great way to do both.

In the summer of 2023, I first actually used couchsurfing as a host and while traveling 3 months through Europe by Interrail. During that trip I tried to promote this more sustainable travel option on my blog and gather my biggest learnings from all countries I visited. In addition, I tried many local foods and shared my opinion on these.

Interests

With regard to travelling, I usually prefer to do something productive on the way, e.g. semester abroad and internship in Australia, Erasmus semesters in Norway or a project in Colombia.

Besides playing Lacrosse I like to do lots of other sports (gym, yoga, Bachata, Salsa) and spend time outdoors in my free time (hiking, snowboaring, probably skitouring soon). I really enjoy cooking and trying food from different cultures.

I'm Niklas, passionate about food, sustainability (incl. my own body and mind) and traveling.
I see my purpose in life as "step by step making the world a better and happier place" and am open to new inspiration outside my existing trajectory and thoughts.

I'm also interested in how other people like you reflect about their life, meaning what makes them happy, what objectives and dreams they have and how they decide what to do in life.

Would you like to join me for a deeper conversation?
Currently, these are the topics most on my mind:
- How to sustainably combine a demanding career with being a good and happy person
- Effective altruism and impact maximization
- (Social) Entrepreneurship
- Food Innovation and business
- Sustainability: Especially how to work most effectively against climate change in the food and travel industries
- Impact maximization
- Freelancing incl. sales and marketing for "boring operations" topics
- Happiness and its impact on performance
- Inspiration and how to get more of it
- How best to reach flow state productivity
- Operational Excellence in small / food companies
- How we manage to improve our society easily and become more sustainable
- Philosophy and thoughts about life in general

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very happy to give some tips about visiting Munich and the Alps close by, share my traveling and career stories and hopefully give some tips about cheap traveling and long-distance hikes.
Additionally, I like to share the meals I cook and explain about how I make most of my meals healthy, tasty, vegetarian or vegan and serve them with a good presentation ;-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always happy to share some of my traveling and career stories and hopefully give some tips about cheap traveling, long-distance hikes, becoming more effective or efficient.
What are you dreaming about and what is something typical in your hometown? I love to go into deep conversations and am also open to try all new kinds of activities.
