Hi there!

I'm Niklas (24), currently travelling through Europe, diving into various new countries and cultures. I want to meet all kinds of people and learn new languages and skills.

This is my first backpacking experience ever, so I'm very excited about it. There are so many places out there i only know by pictures. I finally want to see it all by myself. I'm dreaming of this plan quite a time. Now, I got the time and the courage to do it.

My goal is to travel to Greece, where i want to visit some friends, which i met in Latvia during my study abroad 3 years ago. I could have chosen the easy way and just fly to Athens by plane. But there are two philosophies i pursue, which would not fit together with this type of travelling.

1. The road is the goal.
I truly believe that i would miss so many unwritten stories, wonderful landscapes and maybe even people who could become friends, if i would just fly over them.

2. We have to care more about our planet.
We live in a time full of crisis and injustice. The climate crisis is one of it. I know, that one alone will not handle this problem, but i think everybody should start trying it, right? So, that's why I'm trying to act and consume as environmentally friendly as i can, as for example less use of plastics, plant-based nutrition, organic cotton made apparel and environmentally conscious mobility. And I wish i could learn even more about this sustainable lifestyle from the people i meet on my road to Athens.
