Hi, we are Svea and Niklas, thank you for looking into our profile! :)

We both are 18 year old students from the beautiful Germany (Lower Saxony). We are going to graduate from school at the end of June this year and we would like to fill the gap between school and university with a 30-day-trip throughout Europe which will also be our first vacation as a couple.

We would love to visit Europe by train. We both are really excited and we can just hardly wait to start our trip. As soon as we graduate we start our journey with the beautiful Amsterdam as our first destination. From there we continue our trip throughout the interesting cities and the breathtaking landscapes of Great Britain which will end with a ferry to France where we directly travel to its south. There we'd love to appreciate the (hopefully) warm temperatures of the Mediterranean sea and to improve our french by speaking to locals. Furthermore we are going to visit Italy to enjoy typical Italian food and for the romance we have to see Venice (I believe it to be a must see for couples :) ). Our next destination will be Budapest, Hungary from where we are travelling to our presumably last stop Prague, Czech Republic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We joined Couchsurfing due to three main reasons.

One reason for us to use Couchsurfing is that we would love to make new international friends. Some weeks ago a good fried of us who used to live in Poland for many years had a friend from Warsaw to visit her. We met her multiple times and had a great time together. We hope we could build new friendships like that and CS offers great opportunities to accomplish this wish.

By making new friends we hope that we can frequently speak the foreign languages we learned in school. We attend classes in Englishsince the third and French since the sixth grade. We speak this languages fluently but there is still some improvement to make. We hope to achieve this goal by using CS to talk to locals.

The third reasons is that we as students have a low budget for our journey, therefore we hope to get as many hosts as possible. If we don't find hosts we are going to sleep in hostels. Living in a hostel includes the named reasons for CS: it´s cheap, we are able speak with people and we could build new friendships, but the biggest advantage we see by using CS rather than living in a hostel is that there is a big difference between living with someone and being in the same hostel.

Music, Movies, and Books

We are both fine with the most pop-music songs which are frequently played on the radio.
Especially Svea is a big fan of 'The Beatles' and we also consider to visit Liverpool to stand on the Abbey Road like the Beatles did on their Album Cover. My favourite band is the indie rock band 'The Killers', which debut song 'Mr. Brightside' is my favourite song of all times. I consider Green Day to be my second favourite band. I particularly heard their album 'American Idiot' many times and I still appreciate every single song.

We both like to read. Recently I'm frequently reading classical German literature but I also like to read other genres like crime and fantasy stories. Svea likes similar types of books but recently she's reading more fantasy. We both like to read Sherlock Homes stories and we are fans of the BBC 'Sherlock' series. We also loved to read the 'Harry Potter' books and watched all of the films. Another franchise we love is Star Wars, especially the classical triology.
