Overview
About Me
Hi! This is a joint profile for me and my partner Ester.
We're a couple based in Ulassai Sardinia, Ester's hometown and my second home.
I'm originally from Adelaide, South Australia, but until the last few years had been more or less a life long traveler.
Ester has been based mostly here in Sardinia, working in the seasonal hospitality/tourism industry as well us setting up and being an owner of a campsite over here.
We're somewhere between really laid back and really energetic, depending on the time, place and the position of jupiter (not really, but sometimes it feels like that). You could find us climbing in our local area, reading books on the beach, organising small electronic music events in the local area, or just being lazy on the couch at home... sometimes all in one day!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I used couchsurfing *many* years ago (before it was a paid thing) to do some travel around the US and japan, and had a great time! Also some interesting times??
As I got older and was semi adopted by some communities in different places around the world, I found I stopped using it, simply because I was generally staying with friends or going to places where couchsurfing just wasn't a thing.
Now I'm back plus one! In our most recent travels, we've found that the airbnb culture is completely destroying what it means to visit a place and feel like there's any level of cultural exchange. Hostels are also becoming faux-hotels, smartphones has everyone sitting in their dorms or in the common room browsing instagram, and searching for information on a place you know nothing about means being showered in AI generated clickbait articles with no real content.
Our hope is to help put humanity back in what it means to travel and meet people in foreign places. Hopefully one day when we have a slightly larger living space, we can give back to the community here in Ulassai also =)
Interests
We're always interested in getting outside, hiking, climbing, camping, basically doing anything outdoors in nice places.
I'm currently getting more into event organisation here locally, which has also bred an interest in electronic music production. Not the boot up ableton and make EDM kind of production, but the noodling around on VCV rack for hours kind of (nerd) production B)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nick
Working in the Carnival. While it sounds like a dirty gypsy-esque lifestyle (and at times was), I'll never forget doing it. I met amazing people, was pushed well beyond my limits at the time and learnt not only a lot about myself, but tons of practical stuff and had some of the best laughs of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
Would you like to learn:
- how to (badly) juggle clubs?
- how to make traditional Sardinian ravioli? (culurgiones!)
- how to organise and execute multiday hiking trips?
- DJ?
- build a web application (please no)
- spin poi?
Jack of all trades and master of none! I've worked a lot of weird and wonderful jobs through my life, so if you have a project that needs an extra set of hands, we can probably help =)
