Overview
About Me
Hi there! I’m Nikol and let me get this straight from the beginning: I’m absolutely obsessed with mountains. Seriously, if you’re looking for someone who enjoys partying or big city life, I’m probably not your person. I lived 9 months in Catalonia, Lleida, and then I moved to Andorra. Right to the heart of the Pyrenees—the most beautiful mountains I’ve ever seen (no offense to other mountain ranges, but the Pyrenees are the mountains).
I’m a mountain skier and trail runner, which means I spend a ridiculous amount of time running up and down steep terrain and wondering why I do this to myself. But honestly, I love it. Nature is my happy place, and I feel most alive when I’m outdoors, even if it’s freezing, raining, or my legs are screaming at me to stop.
I also enjoy meeting new people and sharing cultures (though, fair warning, I might accidentally start quizzing you about your food traditions or the history of your language). In university in Lleida I studied Human Nutrition and Dietetics and now I’m starting the university of Andorra. Oh, and I bake cakes—because who doesn’t need a little sweetness in their life?
I grew up in Slovakia, a stunning country where my love for the mountains started. Now I’m building my life in Andorra, and I couldn’t be happier—unless, of course, I had more hours in the day.
So, if you’re looking for someone who can share stories about mountain trails, bake you a cake, or laugh with you about life’s absurdities, let’s connect!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I use Couchsurfing because, as a student and an athlete, saving money is a must (being a high-level athlete with zero support from my national federation is a special kind of adventure). But honestly, I also love connecting with people—traveling isn’t just about the destinations; it’s about the amazing humans you meet along the way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most incredible experiences of my life has been moving to Spain on my own, without knowing anyone and starting to study in a completely new language. It was both challenging and empowering, and it shaped me into who I am today.
I’ve also had unforgettable moments competing in World Cups, World Championships, and races across Europe and beyond. Skiing in the mountains of Azerbaijan, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean in Lisbon, and volunteering at the Special Olympics in Detroit are just a few highlights. Each of these experiences has been unique and has taught me so much about the world and myself.
