Hey!

I'm Nik, I originally come from Germany but I spent a good chunk of my childhood in Boston, USA. Since then I've always felt a pull towards other countries and cultures around the world. I’ve lived in places like Seoul, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and I just recently returned home from a year abroad in Australia. I love the way traveling and connecting with people who are different from you gives you a new outlook in life.

I'd like to say I'm a curious person, I really enjoy learning languages and trying out new stuff. Life is too short to have the same routine and stimuli forever :)

I like to stay very active with ball sports mainly, but I do need some downtime at a cozy café or at home every now and then too. Playing guitar is another way for me to calm down if sports or reading doesn't work at that time.

I live for discovering, exploring, and re-imagining, and I hope that we can get along well!

After having traveled to many countries and gone on many solo trips in the past years, I've wanted to try traveling a little differently. I'm hoping to meet locals and really dive into the local culture, rather than just meeting other tourists and only brushing over the place you are visiting superficially.

And I hope to become friends with some others on Couchsurfing!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Recently I've been listening to a lot of Korean Indie, like Meaningful Stone or Se So Neon. I must admit I've been on a spree of slower, softer music too, like Cigarettes After Sex. To balance it out, I like groovy electronic music like Daft Punk or Parcels, or for the really frustrating days, I'll listen to some more intense stuff like I Prevail, Architects, or Bring Me the Horizon.

I love movies with a rich story or lore. I'll never say no to watching Lord of the Rings (my absolute favorite, 10/10), but I've watched my fair share of Inception, Django Unchained, Bullet Train, Superbad, and so many others. It's hard to name them all!

Just like with movies, there's too many books I like - I'm an avid reader, particularly with fantasy books. Authors that I really enjoy are Steven Erikson, Brandon Sanderson (though his last SA book really fell off), Pierce Brown, Patrick Rothfuss, Fonda Lee, and so many others. I'd be excited to meet another Fantasy nerd!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

At the beginning of 2025, I went skydiving despite having a fear of heights. I realized I love the exhilaration and adrenaline rush. Especially doing things spontaneously makes me feel young, and this decision was made in just 5 minutes.

Other than that, I've been doing a (very silly) challenge with my friends for months of doing 100 pushups every day and I'm happy that I haven't missed a day since starting. The accountability and commitment is fun, especially when you're in a group.

Although I'm definitely not the best ambassador of German culture, I'm happy to teach you some phrases or share some unique facts about German culture.

Honestly, when I'm traveling, I am happy to learn about everything. Everything is new, and I like to soak in as much as I can.

Let's share a meal together and talk about our lives! That's one wish I have when I meet people. It should never be a one-way road when making new connections.
