Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about it from a friend and now I would like to meet people when I travel too.

Interests

I like to cook some French classics and I'm found of pastries too (Paris-Brest, Opera...). I have a cooking school book and intend to learn most of it.
One thing, when I organize a meal, is that I choose the best suited wine to go down with it.

I have started a cellar few years ago (and trying not to empty it too quick). It's quite a challenge to find the proper bottles that deserves the aging. It has grown a hobby now.

I sail with colleagues in little competitions on mono-hulls : J80 and others ~30 feet boats. I follow great competitions like the Volvo Ocean Race or the Route du Rhum.

Go fishing in my native Normandie with my boat next to Jersey Island. Sometimes seeing dolphins. Trying to catch lobsters, avoiding sunburn.

Books: GOT in English. But I'm found of SF (Asimov, Dan Simmons, Bordage, Damasio...)

Movies: the IMDB top 250 movies fits me well!
But what I really like: Tarantino, Cohen brothers, Kubrick, Jeunet, Gondry, Terry Giliam, Lynch, Jarmush...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something really chillingly has been to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp during a hitchhiking trip with 3 friends around est of Europe. It was the most formidable trip I've ever done !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook some European dishes as well as bake the real French baguette and also make pastries. I just need to know to organize groceries, recipe and the needed gear. I could also help with computers and electronics troubleshoot.
