About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a 22 year old student from Ljubljana, Slovenia.
I'm very interested in other cultures and languages, especially in Japanese.
I have been learning Japanese for about 4 years. So my goal is to learn this language by heart and be able to read books by Japanese authors in their native language.
I+m studying Japanese and comparative literature at the university in Ljubljana.
I am also a vegan. I have a dog called Ema and 7 tropical snails at home.
PHILOSOPHY
I'll paste a few quotes which have made an impression on me:
"Closing your eyes isn't going to change anything. Nothing's going to disappear just because you can't see what's going on. In fact, things will be even worse the next time you open your eyes. That's the kind of world we live in, Mr Nakata. Keep your eyes wide open. Only a coward closes his eyes. Closing your eyes and plugging up your ears won't make time stand still."(Murakami, Kafka on the Shore)
"Anyway, it seems to me that the way most people go on living (I suppose there are a few exceptions), they think that the world of life (or whatever) is this place where everything is (or is supposed to be) basically logical and consistent....Itâs like when you put instant rice pudding mix in a bowl in the microwave and push the button, and you take the cover off when it rings, and there youâve g...ot ricing pudding. I mean, what happens in between the time when you push the switch and when the microwave rings? You canât tell whatâs going on under the cover. Maybe the instant rice pudding first turns into macaroni gratin in the darkness when nobodyâs looking and only then turns back into rice pudding. We think itâs only natural to get rice pudding after we put rice pudding mix in the microwave and the bell rings, but to me, that is just a presumption. I would be kind of relieved if, every once in a while, after you put rice pudding mix in the microwave and it rang and you opened the top, you got macaroni gratin. I suppose Iâd be shocked, of course, but I donât know, I think Iâd be kind of relieved too. Or at least I think I wouldnât be so upset, because that would feel, in some ways, a whole lot more real."(Murakami, The Wind-up Bird Chronicle)
"According to Aristophanes in Plato's The Banquet, in the ancient world of legend there were three types of people.
In ancient times people weren't simply male or female, but one of three types : male/male, male/female or female/female. In other words, each person was made out of the components of two people. Everyone was happy with this arrangment and never really gave it much thought. But then God took a knife and cut everyone in half, right down the middle. So after that the world was divided just into male and female, the upshot being that people spend their time running around trying to locate their missing half."(Murakami, Kafka on the Shore)

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of musicians. Joy Division, Raduohead, Bo Ningen, The Cure, Gary Numan, Slowdive, Laibach, Melodrom, Slint,
I like many movies, my favorite being Mulholland Dr., Mirror, Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind, Rushmore, Rebecca,... And shows like The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mighty Boosh, Black Books,...
I love reading all kinds of books, may they be autobiographies, short stories, novels,... I'm writing my thesis on the comparison of Abe Kobo and Franz Kafka, so I've been reading their works a lot recently.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could help people with English or Slovene language. And if someone comes to Slovenia, I could show him/her around, because I always enjoy travelling around my country (it's not expensive at all, because my country is so small). But we have the sea, mountains, fields, everything your heart could wish for. Slovenia's right behind Finland and Sweden, the third country which has the most woods in the EU. It's a very clean country which has a lot of nature. So it's a place where you can take your time off, relax. Or still go out to clubs in the capital.
