Sobre Mim

What can I tell about myself?
Just read the rest of my profile, I hope you'll find plenty of information to make your own idea about me!

Please note I usually cannot host more than one person at any given time. There may be exceptions, but usually it's a "no".

Please also note that I really prefer hosting foreign people, preferably during the WE cause during the week I have little or no possibility to stay with my host, and if I cannot do it I don't see the point in hosting people.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I love my city, and I would like people from abroad always lived nice experiences here, full of hospitality, comfort, and surprises. So, well, I suppose I can do my part!

Interesses

I'm curious. I like a lot of subjects, although, unfortunately, I have a shallow knowledge of too many things, the art of eclecticism being a difficult path to follow.
So, I'm particular fond of foreing cultures, especially from Northern Europe, China, Korea, and Japan. I've been practicing Hung Gar kung fu for many years (I should keep practicing it, I know, but we all have the right to be lazy too, don't we?), I know the basics of the art of Iaido (Japanese sword unsheathe techniques), I love Japanese motorbikes (I don't need a car, but I rely on my Kawasaki in everyday's life, but I also enjoy riding a regular bike (human propelled, I mean :-D), no matter how difficult it can be in a not-so-bike-friendly city).
I love animals and plants, I keep three tanks of freshwater fish, one of them on my balcony, which is big enough to host many plants, flowers and some nice bonsai trees. I also keep two couples of small mantises (yes, the insects, obviously kept safe from the cat, of course).
I keep telling myself I should learn French, but I've never studied it seriously :-\
In recent times I've started learning horseriding, and it's awesome! You can't even imagine how much you can learn from a horse. Also, I'm determined to learn scuba diving, as coral reefs are among my favorite nature's masterpieces. My goal about it to become proficient enough in diving to be able to go swimming with mantas.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Il like post rock music, rosk and metal, and I casually listen to jazz music. I'm a curious listener to all kinds of music.
I love movies, there are so many I would like to mention! Let's say I can watch mainstream movies but sometimes I find them somehow boring, so I usually try not to stop to the main hollywood blockbusters. My favorite directors ever are Stanley Kubrick and Andrej Tarkovskij. Probably my favorite movie is Stalker.
In my childhood been influenced a lot by old classics, such as Gone with the Wind, the Godfather and Ben Hur, or new classics, like Star Wars or Blade Runner.
I read books, I mean paper books, I love their shape and the feeling of touching paper. I've studied greek and latin classics when I was in high school, but I've tried to read novels from different cultures and ages. I'm fond of comic books too, my favorite writers being currently Guy Delisle and The italian Zerocalcare.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

IN 2006 I've almost died after a (quite horrible) motorbike crash. I survived with no permanent damange on my body, but was so lucky to live again the basic steps of independance: learing to breathe again, to drink again, to eat again, to walk again, all in a couple of weeks. I'm not claiming it's something I would wish to somebody, but well, I hope you understand how I feel about it: so lucky I had the chance to "be born again".

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

I teach what I know, I learn what you can teach me, I share what's worth sharing. Let's end it here. too much information already.

O Que Posso Compartilhar com Anfitriões

I can offer a super nice couch (maybe with a cat included, at night), hints on what to see in Milan, food (I love seafood, fish, wine), and - to some extent - companionship: I'm somehow a workaholic, but when my job (which usually takes a lot of my time) allows, I enjoy spending time with people. I'm not a loner at all, but I don't particularly like crowds and crowded places. So if you love clubbing, I'm not the right person to meet.
