Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Nishan.
After 10 years abroad, I’ve recently moved back to Denmark. I spent the last decade living and working in Bangladesh, Palestine, and Egypt, and before that in Canada, Uganda, and the UK.
Now that I’m back, I’m rediscovering Copenhagen and would like to connect with people from different places and backgrounds. Most of my friends here are Danish, so I’m looking to meet a more international crowd.
I’d describe myself as open-minded and easy-going. I enjoy meeting people with different perspectives and sharing experiences over food, drinks, or just a good conversation. Sometimes that means going out, other times just keeping it relaxed.
I speak Danish, English, and Tamil, and I’ve picked up bits of other languages along the way. I’m into good food, music, and spontaneous plans, and I’m always curious to learn about how other people live and think.
If you’d like to meet up, I’m always happy to exchange stories and get to know new people

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on Couchsurfing to connect with people I wouldn’t normally meet in my day-to-day life. For me, it’s about building connections across cultures, sharing experiences, and learning from others.
Sometimes that might mean meeting for a drink and a good conversation, other times offering a place to sleep, or finding a couch when I’m traveling myself. However it happens, I see Couchsurfing as a way to make the world feel a little more open and connected.
Interests
Traveling is one of my biggest passions. I love discovering new cultures, exploring different landscapes, and meeting people from around the world. It’s often the unexpected encounters that stay with me the longest.
I’m also interested in politics and enjoy conversations that help me understand the complexities of our world. Talking about current affairs and global issues keeps me curious and engaged.
Music is another important part of my life. My taste is broad and ranges from calm, melodic sounds to high-energy beats. I enjoy going out to listen to music, and I never say no to a good night on the dancefloor.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Life has taken me on some incredible paths. From hitchhiking all the way from Sudan to Congo, to trekking through the landscapes of Nepal while carrying honey, my travels have been full of unexpected experiences.
Along the way, I’ve lived with kings, spent time with indigenous communities in Bangladesh, and even had political discussions with rebels, which gave me unique insights into their perspectives.
Each of these moments has broadened my horizons and shaped how I see the world. I enjoy sharing these stories and hearing the experiences of others, since it’s often in those exchanges that the real magic of travel happens.
