About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To test the coefficient of restitution of couches around the world

ABOUT ME

Well, I am a routine laid back tech guy, working in Bangalore making chips for your computer so that you can connect through Couch Surfing (you are welcome :)). My weekdays are busy but my usual weekends I can be found outdoors (mostly going on cycling tours around Bangalore) or indoors with my X-Box (I am quite the video game enthusiast). I love travelling to new places especially to the hills and countryside locations which are a respite from the usual city life. More can be discussed over a cuppa coffee anytime if you are in Bangalore.

PHILOSOPHY

That there is so much more to life than a well paying job and the comforts of city life, is felt by most people. What they do about it what makes the difference. For me I realize that it is only when you step out of your urban cocoon, this comfort zone you have created for yourself, shall you discover what life actually holds for you; and travelling is one such way of feeling truly alive. For it is through going to new places that you constantly reconstruct your ideas of what life is, what it is not and what it could be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I just got to know of CSing and was taken with all the amazing travel tales and what they learnt. I intend to do my bit in sharing the culture of Incredible India :) and learn from others about theirs!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Am a newbie and still learning the ropes :)

Interests

I enjoy out door activities especially cycling, hiking and swimming; I skate off and on; cricket is a national obsession and I swear by Sachin :). Travelling to quiet peaceful surroundings, especially the hills and countryside is always enjoyable.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, Indian youth is mostly into the mainstream American popular culture and that is what shaped my music and movie preferences for most part fortunately or unfortunately. Music has been across genres from rock introduced to me through Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer and Cradle of filth to softer tones from Coldplay and Johnny Cash to a recent interest in classical music.
I am an animation fan. Animes, Naruto of course, random Disney productions, Kungfu Panda, Madagascar, Tangled, Shrek etc etc. I am also a big time fan of Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe and of the old bunch enjoy Robert de Niro and Al Pacino.
In Bollywood, I quite like Aamir Khan and his recent work apart from the upcoming alternate cinema works from a range of new directors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was the cycling trip for two weeks two years ago that I took while in Switzerland for my internship. The two weeks of going to a new town everyday and sleeping at camp sites and benches gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and explore new ways of travel.
