About Me

Traveling means to learn and discover as much as possible - about YOURSELF. Traveling is experiencing a place or culture, what is around, to learn what's inside you.
I learn much more about a culture by staying in a village of 5 people and asking questions, than by visiting all the possible hotspots. When people say "I love to travel, 25 countries last year!" I think: "Wow... for me is rather: I love to travel! Half country last year!"

I am an active person, described by those who know me: "He can't be without doing something".
Always moving, always with the desire to travel, to be outside home (i.e. the place people call home), because I LOVE that nice feeling that gives you to know that you are carrying your home in your backpack.
Afraid of routine, afraid of getting used to excessive comfort and afraid that the years go by.

When I was at University and I had some free time I would rush to the Pyrenees, in Spain, just to be alone for a couple of days. I was living in London and Berlin and that wasn't an option. Now I'm privileged to live in Switzerland, where that has become again an option!

That is of course NOT the whole story of my life, but I like risk, adventure, exploring, and specially I love to be somewhere knowing that all the things I need for living are with me (Tent, Sleeping Bag, Food, Water, Books. ENOUGH).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually prefer to sleep in parks and train stations (if it's not too cold) than to go to hostels or Couchsurfing. It gives me more freedom of movement and, usually, same comfort.
I've been hosted only twice (but I've hosted 3 people) because of the special circumstances that made me want to sleep at a house (get hints about the Japanese culture // discover the great city of Bristol // Meet really nice people - that means, choosing CS because of the person and not because of the bed)

But what I like about CS is that many people share your thoughts, worries about the world, ideologies... it's easy to find like-minded people here.

Interests

I feel at home when I'm somewhere in the wild, spending the time alone (or with someone) reading, walking around, cooking in an uncomfortable position... I feel one with the Universe.

I try to avoid cities as I dislike them more and more... but the ones I do like (Berlin, Budapest, London) I like just walking around (but not taking photo photo photo photo photo photo photo photo, if you know what I mean).

Music, Movies, and Books

Maybe you can ask personally? But have a look at these books:
Temple Of The Golden Pavillion // Death Comes For The Archbishop // The Emperor Of All Maladies // The Big Short

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailed from Los Angeles to Hawaii (4 weeks preparation, 3 weeks in the ocean, 3 weeks in Hawaii)

Hitchhiked from England to Spain without using any money at all: cars, trucks, boats... even a seaplane!

I walked from Liverpool to Stonehenge (for the Summer Solstice) along the old Welsh-English border - and I must say: Welsh people, you're wonderful.

Stayed at a Buddhist monastery in North India and taught the kids English and Mathematics.

Volunteered as a Hiking Guide in the Norwegian Fjords in November. Great time of the year to be there.

Biked (2017) and Hiked (2018) Switzerland North-to-South (obviously following different routes...)

Teach, Learn, Share

We are very privileged of being whites and westerners and we don't realise it. My philosophy is to educate people who complain about their food being cold or something being too expensive or not having any clothes that match their new blue sweater.
They have so much and don't realise.
I moved to Switzerland with three backpacks (all I had) and I was angry at myself that I had too much. (One was books and some food, the other only camping stuff, and the third clothes and a couple of gadgets)
