About Me

Being a brand new university graduate it is now high time to let the wanderlust take over until I feel bored (as if that would be ever possible...)
First stop is Central America – I am excited to get to know this part of the world! And maybe my yet-to-be-Spanish will become something slightly more useful.

I am a happy vegan. You can almost always bribe me with cookies, chocolate and everything matcha. I believe that the shortest distance between two people is a smile.
I've been living with my friend and we both couldn't host because I've been actually hogging her couch haha. And now that I've moved out and am about to travel for a while I am without a place. Though I do look forward to host again in the future!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of people connecting through this platform. There is something about being welcomed into someone's home, learning about their life and point-of-views; experiencing friendliness, open-mindedness and warmth through people you initially don't know are what make our journeys that much more unique and memorable. I find that, besides the food, the nature and the sights, it is very often the people we are with that really shape these moments.

Interests

Now that I will have more time on my hands I look forward to exploring and finding new hobbies – suggestions are welcome! On my list of things-to-get-into are: learning/brushing up on a couple of languages, learning more about plants, starting some kind of new sport, sewing, embroidering, meditation.
What I've been enjoying so far includes the piano, a bit of the cello, reading, hiking, yoga, experimenting in the kitchen...I might have picked up a brush and pencil as well in some flashes of inspiration.
And then there is of course the reason we are alle here: traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I honestly have trouble remembering artists and songs unless I've listened to them in loops. Recently I've been enjoying Gaël Faye, Etta Bond, Glass Animals, Jordan Rakei, Tom Misch, Lianne La Havas, Erykah Badu, Noname, Sizarr...to name a couple of artists. I also adore classical music and only learned of Icelandic pianist Vikíngur Olafsson whose albums of Glass and Bach are a treat. And Uehara Hiromi – such a talented Japanese pianist. And everything Yo-Yo Ma goes without saying.

Like music there are many favorite books and books that left quite an impression. Just finished: "Ishmael", "Factfulness", "On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous", "Siddharta".
Some of my all-time favorites are: "The Kite Runner", "A Tale of Two Cities", "To Kill A Mockingbird" (the sequel though!), poems by Rupi Kaur and Ocean Vuong. And from back in the days I still find myself re-reading "His Dark Materials" and of course "Harry Potter", hehe.

Kissing (or more like getting licked by) a giraffe.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an easy-going person and always like to get to know and spend time with my hosts and guests. But it‘s also fine if that’s not possible or not wanted. However I don’t think of couchsurfing as just a way for free accommodation. Let's share a meal and laughter.
